My checking around, led to connections between one they have and some people that live in Armada

Did you call in your tip about who he is connected to in Armada? That could be extremely relevant information.

Police investigating the slaying of Armada teen April Millsap on Tuesday said they are “zeroing in” on a suspect and will continue to work on the case until it is resolved.

The Armada Homicide Task Force has been working around-the-clock since April’s body was found Thursday night on the Macomb Orchard Trail, but their investigation is now narrowing in its focus, said Michigan State Police Lt. Michael Shaw.

“We are pretty confident that we are zeroing in on the person who did this and the person knows that as well,” Shaw said.

Investigators continue to speak with April’s family and her boyfriend, but they are not considered suspects."

Thank you for the welcome BetteDavisEyes. I am actually a member since 2005 (Natalie holloway). You and I have actually followed quite a few cases together including the Tara Grant case. I am a fellow Michigander. My name was "Ella's Mom". For some reason I could not get signed in in May and they had to give me a new sign in and log in.

In that case, :welcome: back, ellasmom :)

My gut says the house they hit yesterday is the right one. There is no way they went there for no reason. Something or someone led them there. They are on the right track for sure!! I am happy to be proven wrong, but too many things point there.

WDIV reports yesterday indicated that two people are still in custody, so my guess is that LE has probable cause to hold the duo. If only the marihuana charges were considered, I think they would have been released by now.

MSP is notorious for taking a very long time to process evidence. Hopefully, having the FBI involved in this case from the get-go will help expedite forensic testing to bring a hasty resolution to this heinous crime.

Thoughts and prayers for April's family, friends, and the people of Armada on this sad day as April is laid to rest. :rose:

Town puts on pink in remembrance of slain Armada teen

Ursula Watson/The Detroit News

Armada— Family and friends came out Thursday to pay their respects to a 14-year-old girl whose body was found in a wooded area.

Many who attended the visitation for April Millsap at the Tiffany-Young and Hauss Funeral Home in Armada wore bits of pink in honor of the teen whose body was found last week in a ditch along the Macomb Orchard Trail near the village.

One family wore bright pink T-shirts that read “Armada Angel.” ...

VILLAGE OF ARMADA, Mich. -
One week to the hour 14-year-old April Millsap left to take her border collie for a walk, swarms of police covered three checkpoints in Armada.

It looked like a roadblock, but it was what police call a rolling canvas. They're looking for new leads in the murder of the teenager.

Millsap's body was found in a drainage ditch along Macomb's Orchard Trail last Thursday evening...

ARMADA, Mich. (WXYZ) - 7 Action News has learned the men arrested in a raid in connection with the murder investigation of April Millsap, will be held another night and likely will be arraigned Friday, on charges related to pot found in the home.

Their names will not be released until that arraignment.

They are being held at the St. Clair County Jail near Port Huron.

Police sources tell Action News the men did not say much, when interviewed, and the interview process is pretty much over.

Meanwhile, Action News re-visited the home Thursday, to see if others living there had a comment. An older woman was home but refused to talk.

At the checkpoints yesterday, Le may have been checking for cuts etc. when they marked the hands of the car occupants which could have been inflicted by April if April was beaten or fought back.

I wonder if April typically used "WTF".

Back from my morning workout and about to jump in the shower. On my way to the gym, there was a report on WWJ radio about whether or not the car searches were "legal". Short answer: Yes.

...But not everyone is keen on the searches.

“Some have questioned the legality of these stops, saying that their right to privacy is being invaded,” said WWJ’s Legal Analyst Charlie Langton. “But the U.S. Supreme Court does allow random searches of cars to assist police in solving crimes. As long as guidelines are followed and the length of detention is minimized, those checkpoints are legal.” ...

I'm sure LE is reviewing cell provider records to get a list of all cell phones that were pinging the closest tower at around the time of the murder. Even in a small town like Armada, that could be thousands of phone numbers that need to be investigated and followed up on.

I don't know if they have the ability to triangulate location but if they can, that would allow them to focus on a smaller number of potential phone numbers. Is it possible that a phone belonging to one of the two drug suspects was traced to the area of the trail where the homicide occurred?

Again, this assumes that the perp had a cell phone in his possession.

Mourners gather for funeral of slain Armada teen

Ursula Watson/The Detroit News

Armada — This quiet community rocked by the killing of a teen said its final goodbye Friday.

Security was tight and the mood was somber at the funeral for April Millsap, 14, at St. Mary Mystical Rose Catholic Church in Armada.

Attendees filled the church’s parking lot. Many cars had a pink bow affixed to them in honor of the the teen whose body was found last week in a ditch about 20 feet from the Macomb Orchard Trail.

A small funeral program had a picture of the smiling girl who just graduated from middle school and detailed how she loved animals and writing poetry and short stories. This fall, April would have started her freshman year at Armada High School. She was described in the program as a loving girl who was always there to help...
