Police are searching for an elderly woman with dementia who wandered away from her home in Shelby Township.

Authorities say 89-year old Barbara Kasler was last seen around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at her home near 23 Mile Road and Hunters Creek, just west of Van Dyke.

Kasler is described as a white female, 5'5" tall and 140 lbs. with gray hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing pajamas.

Anyone who sees Kasler or has information on her whereabouts should call 911 or contact Shelby Township police at 586-731-2121.

Wow, hope she’s found. I don’t live in MI but I do own a summer home in Shelby county.
It’s a pretty rugged, rural area. A lot of outdoorsmen, hunting, fishing, hiking, etc. They know the area well!
I think she’ll be found soon.
I’m concerned about the weather though. Hopefully she’s dressed for the elements.

Trudie,
To clarify, Shelby Township, where the woman was just found, is not in Shelby County. It is in Macomb County. 23 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue is part of Metro Detroit. That area is a heavily populated suburb with businesses all along Van Dyke Avenue, which is a main north-south artery running from Detroit. Subdivisions with nice homes are located behind the businesses on Van Dyke. There is nothing rugged or rural at all about that area.

Shelby (Charter) Twp. is in Macomb County. Shelby/Oceana County is on the west side of the state, along Lake Michigan.

I'm glad the woman was found and is safe.

Police: Reporter who helped foil robbery finds missing woman

Campbell took Kasler into his vehicle and cranked up the heat until police arrived. She was taken to a hospital for observation.

Campbell says he was just “in the right place at the right time,” but police tweeted that “We owe you lunch!”

Mike Campbell from WWJ was in the area this morning to help spread the word about our missing female. While in the neighborhood, ol’ Eagle Eye Campbell spots the lady and calls us. “She says she’s ok, just cold”. Welcome to Team Shelby, Mike! We owe you lunch! #TeamShelbyRocks
