I agree, the stories are all over the map, but I don't know who to blame yet. The media seem to be the ones that screwed up the suspect descriptions, giving at least four different ones, so I don't know that the story changes we are hearing now are because the media got correct info after printing whatever they had earlier, or whether they are getting different info because the father changed his story.

Now the carjacker's red car may have front end damage. :waitasec: Does this mean that they rear-ended Bianca's father's car intentionally to get him out of the car? If so, then there should be red paint on the back of the Grand Marquis.....My thoughts are running rampant here.

This story is like deja vu, all over again. I think we can guess how this will end. I think it will end quickly, though, seeing that there have been so many changes in the father's story and the parents have been separated already. The dad went in for questioning about the car-jacking but I am sure he will be asked all kinds of pertinent questions. His story is so unbelievable. Poor sweet baby.

O/T - Start noticing how many people are killed or murdered around their birthdays.

That's a typical carjacker's ploy, all right.

That would be creepy. Somebody slams into your back end and then tells you your tail lights are out. I would NOT stop and get out of my car, ESPECIALLY if I had a child in the car.

This guys stories are getting too detailed, down to the perps' clothes and car, yet he doesn't grab his own child. Sorry, this does not pass the smell test, and I DON'T expect to be eating any crow. I can imagine the mother is devastated.

Just saw police chief on fox 2. He gave the basics
Wouldn't comment re family member saying dad changed story. Most notable to me was him saying it was important to get Bianca home to her mom. Didn't say to parents. Using phone.can't link it was live on wjbk fox 2.

Police Chief says if you call in to the tip line, you won't be tracked.

When asked about reports of the fathers changing story, Chief said "I don't want to get too far into that part of the investigation. Its an open invesitgation, we are actively querying family members. But I think whats most important right now, regardless of where 'that story goes', the fact remains that Bianca is unaccounted for..."<snipped>

They don't believe a single thing that comes out of the father's mouth, and probably for good reason. MOO.

I don't get that either, especially since this is the first time I have seen Mitchell mentioned. Before this, it was reported the car was taken from Brush and Custer, and dumped off of Beaubien, and then they come up with Mitchell from somewhere...

Computer locked up after my last post, and I had to wait for DH to get home to figure out WTF was going on :blushing: Mitchell is not far from the neighborhood where I grew up in the '50s/60s. That area of the city is still family-oriented with few abandoned or burned-out properties. As I posted earlier, the New Center neighborhood where Bianca lived with her mother has been a dangerous, high-crime area for about 30 years.

Are we to assume that the father talked with media? I thought he had not (but not according to this article):

In an interview with Local 4, Jones' father, Deondre Lane, said he pulled over near Interstate 75 and East Grand Boulevard after a driver in a red car had shouted to him that something was wrong with his taillights. Lane said a man then pulled a gun on him and took off with his silver Mercury Marquis, which still had his daughter strapped in her car seat.

I think he must have spoken to some reporters from what I've read, which could explain all of the mixed up info we had, especially at the beginning. Not too smart changing your story and speaking to the media. But, he could just be really frazzled and worried...we can only hope that's the cause for some of his confusion.

That part of the story makes no sense to me. If someone yelled to me that my tire was falling off, MAYBE then I would pull over. But I would not get out if the other driver pulled over too. Especially over tail lights.

Also, what about the story that there was front end damage to the red car? Did he change his story to make it seem more believable?

Video here says they searched the Dad's house but wouldn't say if anything that was found. 50 officers walked neighborhood looking in vehicles, under furniture, used helicopters and tracking dogs. Some officers went to the house were the father was staying on Detroit's East side. There was a two-year-old girl inside the house but this girl was determined to be Bianca's half sister. There was a woman in the house, the other girls' mother, who said the father left the house at 7:30. She said the father left with the girl (Bianca). She also said Bianca had spent several nights at the house. She declined a live interview.

And it's a sad day when I find myself wondering if Dad backed into a red car trying to 'create' the story.

The timeline is too wide. The places the car jacking is alleged to have happened stands at 3 now? NMK mentioned two, then a 3rd street Morris or Morrison comes in?

LE is going to have to backtrack. Survellience of when dad allegedly picked the child up from moms house yesterday. Where was he this am. (juggling too many things at once) but there was what 2 hours from the time he left his home until the car was allegedly stolen? Where where they and what where they doing. I'm sure Detroit has lots of survellience that will confirm or negate dads story.

Still no independent sightings of when this child was last seen alive? She just had a birthday Saturday. Who has seen her since the birthday party and this week?

ay yi yi. Still praying she is found safely, hoping against hope...

silver 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis

Also from same article:
Her parents, father Deandre Lane, 32, and mother Rakida Mitchell, have told police their vehicle was robbed at gunpoint. Bianca's parents were talking with police Friday afternoon near where the car was stolen. The girl's father declined comment to the media before leaving in an unmarked police vehicle.
Police say their suspect is a black male, 25-30 years old with a medium complexion and about 6-feet tall at 190 pounds. He's wearing a black shirt, black pants and has a 5 o'clock shadow. He also has a brown and black baseball-style hat. Bianca was wearing a purple jacket with gold trim, pink tights and pink shoes. She's described as being 2-foot-five, 25 pounds and having a light complexion.
According to the alert, the "suspect vehicle was last seen traveling northbound on John R. near East Grand Boulevard in a small red passenger car." The car may have front-end damage.

I'm confused.... Bianca's mom is Banika Jones, right?? Sooo, I'm getting mixed up. Who is Rakida Mitchell?

Apparently he has a live in girlfriend and they have a 2 yr old daughter as well. And this girlfriend said he left the home at 7:30 am with his daughter.
So that is one sighting, but I am not sure if she would lie for him or not.

They've changed this article to say that Banika Jones is the mother. So now I am wondering if Rakida Mitchell is the mother of the half-sister that is also two. The mother of this girl said that Deandre left with his daughter, Bianca, at 7:30 in the "breaking news" video at clickondetroit.com.

Let's hope for her sake and her childs sake she is honest with LE.
