I think if there was a carjacking or actual kidnapping, it happened much earlier than DL is saying it did. he likely knew he had warrants and didn't want to go to jail.

What I don't get is why he didn't just disappear too. He knew he was going to go to jail, why report her if he did something to her himself? It would have made more sense to just take off himself, if he killed her or did something that led to her death. Instead, he reports her, opens himself up to LE contact and scrutiny...none of this makes any sense.

"Bianca was just learning how to talk and when she saw those pizzas she yelled, 'pizza!' and I told her one had bacon and she yelled, 'bacon!' When she was asked to say her name, Bianca, she acted as if she had never heard it before. But she knew bacon."

Someone help me out here. Why does the above statement that I bolded make me very uncomfortable?

Maybe the half sister was planted in front of the tv watching her favorite show and they just put the phone up to her. She could've just babbled about her show. 2 year olds have difficulty splitting their attention.

Lol, so do some 29-year-olds...like me. ;)

I asked about the phone because of how verbal Bianca seemed to be (based on what her mom said). I don't talk to toddlers on the phone often. ;)

Somebody else post, darn it, I'm sick of talking to myself!

Anyway, my neighborhood drug dealers operate 24 hours a day. Literally. Maybe he left the house at 7:30, intended to run and pick up "something", and after he got it, left it and Bianca in the car for a few minutes while he ran into a convenience store to get a pop or a candy bar, and when he comes back, Bianca had gotten into his stash, and OD'ed. It certainly wouldn't be the first time that a toddler had died after getting into their parent's stash, and it wouldn't be the first time that a parent covered up an accidental death. I, of course, have no proof that DL is using drugs, only that he was in possession of them in the past, so it's jmo.

:seeya: I'm here!

I have to admit, every time I am away from the board for moe thanan hour, I get excited, thinking there will be big news the next time I log in.

As soon as I heard the car was found running, I thought, "well, yeah Dad left it on, with the keys in the ignition, in that neighborhood, because he hoped someone would steal it and give credence to his story."

Also, my normally very talkative 20 month old, who LOVES to walk around with a pretend phone to her ear "chatting", will immediately clam up the second I put her up to a real phone to talk. I have seen it with all my relatives and friend's kids too. It's almost like they are too amazed that another person's voice is actually coming through to actually respond. Jmo, but I don't think it's weird if she only said a few words and mom could have easily been fooled into thinking another child was Bianca. Not to say that is what happened, but if it did, it wouldn't be unbelievable to me.

I'm here, too...but I have three WS windows open following cases. I wish more experienced sleuthers were here on this thread for this baby. Although I do understand if they don't come because I almost didn't open this thread up myself, because I am SO SICK of these cases.

My prayers for Bianca and her mom...

So if there's a school age child living in that house, she'll be able to answer whether Bianca was there that morning.

She should be able to answer when Bianca was last alive and well. IF this child is a full sibling of the two year old half sibling Bianca was visiting. Technically we don't know how many mothers are out there who may have fathered this guys children. It wouldn't be unreasonable to think there may be more than two.

another thought which occured to me. Further speculation only to leave no stone unturned. There may be some fighting between mothers over child support and what kind of support this man is providing the various moms of his kids. I remember very well from my SP forum days child support goes to whomever files first-regardless of the childs birth order. It is not based on the age of the child. Probably not likely, but a possibility.

I have to say I think we are doing a good job. I don't think there has been anything released that hasn't been talked about here and there are several people who are on top of anything new. Maybe it takes us new sleuthers since it's so easy to get jaded here on WS.

Not necassarily true. My boyfriend is paying child support on both of his kids, both in MI, in two seperate counties. They each get similar amounts. ($140/week on one child, $180/week on the other.) Filing dates were two years apart. They both get the same amount out of his garnished wages. Same thing with my ex, who is paying on three children, one in the state and two in other states. When he does bother to get a job or get hauled in for non-payment, the money collected is split evenly. The only issue I can see is that the one he is living with might get some jealousy from the one (or more) that he isn't living with and directly supporting. MOO.

ETA: If it does come out in some way that this whole thing was related to child support, DL is dumber than I thought. He had Bianca with him for a week. Once a parent paying child support has the child in their physical custody for 7 days or more (MI law) they can file to have their support payments stopped, and child support reversed and paid by the parent that does not have physical custody.

I keep checking The Detroit News and WDIV websites for updates, but weekends are generally slow news days unless there is a big, breaking story. Local news will be on at 6:00, so maybe there will be something to report/discuss then.

Thoughts and prayers for this precious little one.

BBM - I agree with you. Anymore, my first reaction is dad/mom/husband/wife did it, sadly.

Does dad have a record? Sorry if I missed any posted info.

According to one of the news links, he has felony convictions. Possession of cocaine, possession of stolen property and one other one that I can't remember.

ETA:
Lane is known to police. He is a felon convicted of possession of cocaine, possession stolen property and a felon in possession of a firearm.

He's still at it, apparently. He's now in custody on "unrelated warrants".

Noel Night is tonight in Detroit. It takes place on Woodward Avenue, so hopefully, someone is there to represent the family this evening and pass out flyers. It would be a good event to get the word out.

I'm going to take a guess here. Banika and Bianca sound so similiar they might be confused by a young child. Especially if Bianca often heard people using her moms name. Bacon may have sounded easier to pronounce.

Let me explain why. when my now 17 yr old nephew was little (4/5 or so) we went to eat and he decided on grilled cheese. I ordered grilled cheese and as soon as the waitress walked away he started crying. I mean really crying. I had no idea why and when asked, he said "I don't want girl cheese, I want boy cheese." He was unable to differentiate between girl and grilled. I'm thinking Bianca and Banika might be confused in a similiar manner with a young 2 yr old. Maybe she looked confused because she was hearing her moms name instead of her own name.

Thanks, good to hear how it works in MI. My example was based on what I learnt for IL.

That sounds quite possible. I'm even having trouble keeping the names straight sometimes.
