In lieu of any local TV news until 6:00 this evening, I listened to the 5:00 news on WWJ radio (CBS affiliate). There was little to report other than that the search for little Bianca has intensified while LE continues to interview anyone who might have come in contact with the child or her family.

Be. Jones, 7, burst into tears and begged for the return of her little sister Saturday when she stood before reporters, microphones and cameras at a police department press conference.

"I just want you to bring my sister back home," the girl said before turning to be embraced by her mother and other family members who appeared with Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee Jr., to plead for the safe return of 2-year-old Bianca Jones.

"We only want Bianca back safe and sound," the mother, Banika Jones, said Saturday. "Just take her to a church or a drugstore. Please bring Bianca home."
Lane has been in police custody since Friday, and has taken a lie detector test, but Godbee declined to call him a suspect. He also declined to reveal the result of the test.
The chief said the father has been cooperative as his story is being checked. Lane is being held on an outstanding warrant for an unrelated matter "in another jurisdiction," Godbee said.
"There is some anomaly in this case. The circumstances are atypical," Godbee said. "But it does not mitigate the fact we don't know where Bianca is. Issue one is find Bianca, get her home. Issue two is investigation."
Godbee said he knew this to be "high quality family," because he had traveled with the missing girl's uncle, Olando Jones, 20, to a Washington, D.C., summit on youth violence prevention.

(I do question what potential harm they could be doing to the 7 year old by putting her out there like that. I understand that she may have wanted to do it, but really, come on, she is only 7. Also, it strikes me a little odd to say "church or drugstore". That's the first place that comes to mind? Not hospital, police department, shelter, but a drugstore?)

<modsnip>. So, just read the article. Apparently, the uncle, OJ went with Godbee to a youth summit on preventing teen violence and Godbee says that he feels Bianca's family are good people, from what he knew of them before this event. Also, her mother asks specifically for her to be dropped off at a church or drugstore...don't know, the wording just struck me odd.

That's okay, I was just wondering. I'm really sorry about leaving the sister's name in there. Usually I take them out. The last thing anyone in that family needs is more heartache for any reason, right now.

OK, now that that's all handled, LOL, I wish there were more out. There were a lot of articles yesterday, which one would expect, because it was breaking news, and I know today is the weekend, but I would feel so much better to know that there is no risk of this case being forgotten right away.

I have serious doubts that Bianca is still alive, but either way, she needs to be brought back to her family, as her mother and mother's family are (in my opinion) completely blameless, and just as much victims as Bianca herself.

Lane is known to police. He is a felon convicted of possession of cocaine, possession stolen property and a felon in possession of a firearm.

We have the very typical "time to return the child, how do I explain her absence" situation.

We have the big bad evil looking carjacker who stole the car in the middle of the day with the child in it.

I don't think he could have made his story stink anymore if he had tried. Doesn't mean he's guilty of course. :twocents:

This is the previous convictions page for her father, DL. There is the felon in possession of a firearm charge, the 2 counts of cocaine possession, under 25 grams, and the felony firearms charge. He was on probation for the receiving stolen property, and I find it interesting to note that he was discharged from probation without improvement.

I checked by just his last name and then narrowed it down by convictions. I wan't sure either, seems Lane is a very popular last name.

I'm suprised LE is being so tight lipped. Did he confess, is he saying anything? Any additional clues to bring in tips (besides a red boxy type car). For someone who provided so much detail about the perp, he suprisingly knew little about the car.

And only 1 person so far has been known to have seen dad that morning driving by. Where is everyone else? Why is the girlfriend being so quiet. Where is the media?

So frustrating!

For that to happen, I'd think he would need to be a big time drug dealer (like in the movies). In reality, drug dealers aren't keen on going to prison for kidnapping children.

IMHO - daddy did something to little Biance and disposed of her body. Now if only someone could find her!
