''A boy, who is believed to be about 2 years old, was found wandering in the area of Cathedral Street and Heyden in Detroit at about 12 p.m. on May 6.

When officers discovered him, he was taken to a local hospital for a precautionary examination.

At the time he was found, he was wearing a gray shirt and a pull-up diaper.

Anyone who recognizes this child, or knows his parents or guardians, should contact the Detroit Police Department’s 6th precinct by calling 313-596-5601.''

Omg, he’s adorable! I’m glad he was reunited but I’m worried the parents have something to do with him wandering around alone.

He looks clean, happy, well nourished. A lot of kids are escapologists at that age. I'm not saying there for sure wasn't some kind of neglect, but they found the parents fast, so I'm guessing the parents called 911 when they couldn't find him.

Could be that. He definitely looks cared for. He probably just left the house by himself and his parents didn’t realize.

Or he was in the care of an elderly family member or another child, who didn't notice when he slipped away. It doesn't take much.

My own mother got a knock on the door one day, and was greeted by a stranger who asked, "Is this your child?"

My one year old younger brother had climbed a four foot chicken wire fence and toddled down the street in search of adventure. She had been washing dishes and hadn't the slightest clue he'd managed leave the house, let alone the yard.

My partner has a younger brother who was very similar. They knew he was getting out somehow, because they'd find him where he wasn't meant to be. They took a photograph the day they caught him in the act - a baby in a nappy standing on tiptoe to reach the heavy sliding bolt of the gate to achieve freedom. It's still in their photo album.

I'm glad this little guy was found safe, and unharmed. Hopefully it's just been a shock and a lesson learned for otherwise doting parents.

This reminded me so much of the Leila Cavett case. It's sad that everyone Jumped to parent bashing! Must be nice to be a "perfect" parent.
