My DD's was a meeting place in a building. This guy in a dark suit came out from behind a closed door, shook my hand and handed me the white plain envelope, but didn't introduce himself and quickly disappeared behind the door. I kind of felt dirty, like mafia style...LOL!

I was wondering the same thing. From the Twitter exchanges, it seems like maybe they were on bad terms at one point? Maybe the parents are still on bad terms with him even now? Although, in his comments he did say he and his dad would "take care of things," or some such talk. I don't think her dad was there either? Just mom and the best friend and the other girl?

IMO, they wanted to appeal to the kidnapper...perhaps they strongly advised that those ticked off ready to kill type not speak at the presser??




ETA: if it were me i'd probably go off and elude to something like hunt you down like a dog and make you wish for death...that kinda thing. But, that's just me.
