GUILTY MI - Brenna Machus, 20, Romulus, 16 July 2013

  • #61
ok they say the place was trashed maybe they chased the poor kid or he tried to get away. Did he or she open the back door and let someone else in.

I wonder if there is exit surveillance video? How did the perp/s and/or Brenna Machus leave the store and were they seen on surveillance video in the store or in the parking lot? Guess I'll have to stay awake for the 11:00 news to see if there's an update.

Where is Brenna?

Man Found Dead At Dollar Store, Woman Missing

July 16, 2013 4:46 PM

DEARBORN (WWJ) - A 20-year-old man was found dead inside a Dearborn dollar store and a co-worker is feared abducted.

Dearborn Police Lt. Doug Topolski says employees opening the Family Dollar at the Value Land plaza on Michigan Avenue Tuesday morning found the store in disarray...

I think its a large black woman!

I don't want to speculate on ethnicity, but the feet seem small, and the athletic shoes look like those that might be worn by a woman. :moo:

does it look like the murderer takes the last cart out of the corralle? why would there be only one cart left if there were no other customers in the store?

It has been veerry hot in southeastern lower Michigan (I live in Oakland County), and we have been under a Heat Advisory! I would have been immediately suspicious of an individual dressed like the person in that video :scared:

In this news article it said it was raining heavily that night so perhaps a hood up didn't look as odd as it might have otherwise. A nearby storeowner speculated that the sound of a gun firing could have been mistaken for thunder.

I guess both Brenna and the slain employee must have lived alone since nobody seems to have been alarmed that they didn't come home from work.

Most cart are left by customers out in the parking lot. With only two employee's working who knows if anyone even brought any carts from the parking lot back into the store that night.

There were pop-up thunderstorms around metro-Detroit yesterday but none where I live, so I didn't take that into consideration. Even so, overnight temperatures were in the 70s, so there was no need for jeans and a hoodie or jacket in the evening - other than the clothing as camouflage ;)

Updated Channel 4 article. I am trying hard to stay awake for the 11:00 news and will post anything new.

Is it possible the store was left open after the killing/kidnap and people looted it, left it trashed, maybe cleared the register? I don't know, sort of feels like a domestic to me.

Watching Channel 7 News. They are reporting that the doors to the store were left unlocked after 7:30pm the entire night until the next morning. They interviewed a woman that was shopping a half hour before. They also say they are waiting on video of the perp leaving the store. Mentioned that the power was out due to storms and something about needing to download the video?

Also that her car and purse and other personal items were left behind.

Channel 4 11:00 report: Person in surveillance video said to be a male, most likely African-American. Friends of JO and BKM don't recognize the person in video. POI not seen exiting Family Dollar Store on surveillance video, so exit must have been in rear of store where there is an alley. Dearborn Police want tips from anyone who recognizes individual in video.

What about the Uncle upthread ( posted from another forum, so rumor) who said the perp is Arabic??

"Police sources tell Local 4 they’re aware 20-year-old Machus had an admirer who would call and hang around the store but have determined the guy on video is definitely not the same person."

Okay, so I'm thinking that is the mystery Arabic the Uncle mentioned. If the guy in the video is definitely not him, then that moves me further away from a domestic.

Robbery gone bad, takes the female for his own sick purposes or to traffic her?

What about the Uncle upthread ( posted from another forum, so rumor) who said the perp's name is Mark and he is Arabic??

When Brenna's Uncle was interviewed on Channel 4 during the 6:00 news, he made no mention of the man or the vehicle described in the blog entry. Until something is reported to the contrary, I would consider the blog information a rumor and disregard it. :moo:

So no one came into the store after 7:30pm at all?

So no one came into the store after 7:30pm at all?

According to an employee at the neighboring hardware store, it was raining heavily and parking lot was nearly empty. I suppose that it's possible that there were no customers after 7:30.

"He said, with the investigation in its early stages, it’s still unclear if a robbery was involved or if there was some other motive behind Orlando’s killing."

I'd bet my last dollar that with the store left open, someone happened upon what they considered their own good fortune and helped themselves. If money is missing and the store is in disarray, detectives can probably get a feel if its been looted--so they don't know if money was taken during the original crime or after.
