Officials: Broken glass deliberately spread on beach at Michigan's Sleeping Bear Dunes Lakeshore

CLEVELAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Officials believe broken glass was intentionally spread at a beach on Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (National Lakeshore) is issuing warnings that large quantities of broken glass have been found on the Lake Michigan beach near Good Harbor Picnic Area, at the east end of Lake Michigan Road in Cleveland Township...

Thousands of glass shards strewn at Sleeping Bear Dunes

Traverse City, Mich. – Officials at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore say large quantities of broken glass have been strewn along a Lake Michigan beach.

...Blake says the glass wasn’t dumped in one spot but was spread “fairly uniformly up and down the beach for several hundred yards.”...

Some very deeply disturbed people out there. What in the world would make a person think to do something that could seriously injure a little child (adult too)?

Someone has way too much time on their hands.

we spent a lot of family time out there when I was little... I recall that I used to get so excited at just the name... Sleeping bear, like a cuddly teddy bear of warm sand lol...

this is very sad if deliberate... but maybe there is some weird explanation? (there I go again, always playing devil's advocate, lol...)

Oh, I still go a few times a year. This is sick, if true.
Omg
Devastating for beach goers! Not to mention the birds.

Please, no copycats to this BS!
I’m so concerned large glas fragments will be pulled to the lake, buried under sand and feet will be severed.
Someone saw something.
Moo

A Lake MI lover!

People are strange. My nephew worked as a state park ranger for a few years and every summer he worked at the park, there was some kind of strange vandalism to the trails - one year someone spread nails or tacks (I can't remember which) all along one of the hiking trails.

This was done by someone who doesn't want visitors at this beach.

Disgusting, outrageous behavior. How “high” must one be to think of such things? Cutting bills from pelicans, shooting ducks with arrows, glass fragments on the beach.......wow!
Hopefully MI news stations have a constant scroll running before someone loses a foot, or some little tyke building his first sand castle severs his wrist.
There must be cam footage along the route. Oh, how I wish the persons responsible could be caught & made to pick up every shard.

You think a local in one of the mansions on the beach?

Some beaches in Ontario were vandalized last spring in a similar way.

If you google Muskoka Beaches threat, there are a number of articles about it.

Wish I knew how to make a link.

Horrible. Did they find the culprit?
