And when did he go missing? The radio does not look terribly old to me, early 2000s/late 1990s, but not older.
And if he was transient, he enjoyed having a reliable, sturdy radio with him, it could have been used 10 years or more.

I'm very late but the answer to this question is no, he was not reported missing. He lived in Taylor, MI and his car was impounded by Huron Township, MI police on August 7, 2014. Investigators believe this death was a suicide.
