GUILTY MI - Daniel Sorensen, 26, beheaded & burned, Northville, 7 Nov 2007

Thanks for sharing the link on this guy with us, Steve:).

I'm just not feeling it, you know? That he has such a record leaves me with with little to no compassion for what he may have gone through. He may have destroyed a child's mind with with his sickening act(s). At least this one criminal can hurt no one else.

But, I do wonder what kind of person could behead and burn someone--even a sex offender?

I think they beheaded and burned him after he was dead because the article says that police think it was done to keep him from being identified. I bet this has nothing to do with his being a sex offender. He was probably into other bad things, too, and around people who wouldn't care whether he was a sex offender or not. I bet it's something involving drugs.

His S.O. status was due to underage girlfriend.
Good points, Steadfast.

I can only say that I will shed no tears.

Possibly the child's mother or father????? Although I would have tied him up, cut off another part of his body, and burned it in front of him and let the sucker live.....

Noone should feel they are above the law and take things into their own hands, no matter how disgusting the crime

When I saw the title of this thread, I first thought it was a report from the Middle East. I'm relieved to see we are so much more civilized than the Saudis.

Northville Township isn't all that far from Dearborn, and Dearborn is notable for having the largest concentration of Sunni and Shiite Muslims in North America.

Good! One down how many more to go!!! I'm fed up with these excuses for human beings.

I second that!

The code indicated the perp must be 5 years older than the victim.
I also found him on Illinois site.
Search by last name only

He was from Pekin Illinois.

I work here in Pekin, Illinois. NO I don't like child molesters but I am assuming he was probably in a relationship with a 15/16 yo and maybe he was 20, 21 or so. I don't really consider this person a child molster. Yes what he did was wrong but this isn't the same as abusing a 5, 6 or 7 year old, JMO.

I agree - it may have been a case of a 20 year old with a 15 year old girlfriend. Not the same as molseting a young child.

I can't believe how many of you can sit here and applaud this man's death when you don't even know the circumstances of his charges.

He sure must of pi$$ed someone off to do such a over kill. I can't even imagine someone cutting a head off a body especially after it was burnt.

The stench from burnt skin is horrid! ( my bro died from 98% of his body burnt many yrs ago) The smell is the worst thing you can imagine.

I'd hate to be the girls family you can bet they're being interviewed by LE. Sounds to me like either a gang initiation or drug related. I also think he was involved with a younger girl.....

Being burnt to death is a he!! of a way to die.

NON COMPLIANT!

While he was listed as non compliant in IL, he WAS registered in MI, which does nothing more than confirm communicaton between states on RSO's needs improving.

His crime, was listed as a misdemeanor, and yes it does look like he was "involved" with someone between the ages of 13-17 while he was at least 5 years older so at worst that's 13/18, best 17/22 or so. I too doubt his death had anything to do with being an RSO, which is very different than a ped.

I agree, before RSO's are jumped on, the circumstances of the crime should be looked into before presuming or classifying them in the same category as pedo's.

I agree, I think we have to be little careful about cheering when a "SO" dies or is killed. Hubby was just reading about a case of a kid (black) who had a gf (white) and did 5 years in prison for engaging in consensual oral sex. I think he was 20 and she was 15. He will forever have to register as a sex-offender. He was reported by the girl's father - dad's real objection was his race.

Personally I think the stautory sex crimes (if consensual when "child" is 15, 16for example) should have a different moniker than sex offender who must be registered for life.

I can't find him on the sex offender registy for either state. Does anyone know what he did?

According to the article, a relative said he had a relationship with any underage girl and the sex offender status hung over his head like a cloud.

Neither do I. I also agree that his murder was probably unrelated to his SO status - looks like someone was trying to stop the identification of his body.

My prayers for his family and for everyone affected by this brutal crime.

It truly boggles the mind, doesn't it?
