Yeah. I can imagine a scenario where that guy was either

a) looking specifically for Danielle, and backed off when he got a better look at Atomic and realised she was not his target, or

b) looking for a female victim who was happy to go with him willingly, but Atomic was on the phone [meaning someone on the other end of the call was a witness] and distracted, appearing standoffish. Danielle by all accounts was bubbly and friendly and out of a desire to help, may have started answering this guy's questions and relaxed around him, and been easy prey.

Idk, just spitballing possibilities. But I think a) is more likely. I think this was targeted, though the abductor might not have known Danielle well or at all and might be working on behalf of someone else (which is why he mistook Atomic for Danielle at first).

Just a possibility, no hitching my wagon to this theory at all.

I got the feeling he was new to abduction and wasn't confident in himself yet. I think the guy is dangerous and a threat to the public.

It's just a theory to apply motive. I also don't think it has merit.

Always trust your gut instinct - glad you did Still confused why they would search in Fenton. My brother lives there and it's north about an hour. Why not in Redford, the local area in Farmington? If it was an ex, where does he live now

I've used rental cars that had an out of state plate. In my experience rentals are usually unassuming type vehicles. I find it interesting that he followed you in and parked near you. Did you notice he was behind you while driving? If so, when? Was he following you before you pulled into the complex?

If this guy really needed directions he could've stopped at a gas station and asked the attendant and/or bought a map.

I saw that he was pulling in behind me but it was 6pm on a Friday, nothing out of the ordinary. I stopped and got my mail on the way in and was distracted with my conversation so I have no idea when he ended up behind me until we were actually pulling into the lot. He was in a vehicle that was similar color and size to one my neighbor drives so I just assumed it was them when he parked. If he was looking for an apartment, the gas station or map wouldn't have helped but he didn't ask for specifics, just if all the buildings had the same address. If he had asked for a specific apartment number, I could have pointed him in the general direction because the numbers go up the deeper you go back into the complex.

Do we even know family/friends opened the apt? So much already posted and read I can't remember if they did. I do know they made it out that nothing seemed off but that could have been them going in with police there.

For sure, because her parents now have her cute little kitty cat.

Her picture with the guy she was dating was from a wedding 14 weeks ago....that's so intriguing to me...it's pulling me ....why isn't he vocal about searching.....

Btw if that's her kitchen it's insanely beyond tiny

He still has two photos of Danielle (one of them is actually of him and her together) posted on one of his SM feeds, though: In the first post, he asks people to keep looking for her, and then in the second, he asks her to come back.

I agree with you on this actually. Completely.
Not because anyone would ever know but her demeanor seems stable from family and sm and coworkers

Just a possible theory by some, as it happens in many cases.

We have heard no whispers of anything on social media, which is odd to me. Either there is nothing at all in her background or the best kept tight lipped case I've seen.

But not to the point where we can dismiss AA's incident.

Yes, he should have asked about a specific apt #, and even mention the name of the person he was looking for.

Personally I think the family feels LE info is headed in right direction and their fear of leaks has them tight lipped. I commend them actually.

Does DS typically leave work at 5 or 5:30? I think if it's 5, we can eliminate this guy from the scenario. 5:30 and he's expecting her to come home, that increases the possibility they're connected.

Now I don't understand why perp would show his face to others in the complex. Or stake out her apartment at least a few minutes early.

Fact is we don't know which time she arrived. Or if she arrived. So we can't dismiss him because of that.

There are so many damn IFs in this case. Many things hinging on one another. I wish we could get a solid, set in stone, last confirmed sighting to which we can jump off from.

I think so on family to, seems to me they have heavy faith in LE.

What I was leaning to though is her peers, not a whisper. Really odd in that age group for no one to be saying anything. social media in that age group would have whispers.

See but it's plausible that, if she did stop to get the groceries for dinner/run some quick errands, could have very well gotten home around 6ish. And I'm not sure that her family could tell if she just grabbed a small bag with a change of clothes. She may have been on her way out. We don't know that. We just know the place wasn't ransacked. I don't see how her parents would know.
