GUILTY MI - Daryne Gailey, 29, & baby daughter murdered, Oxford Twp, 22 Nov 2014

This story really burns me. If my special needs son had a job and a baby he could see every other weekend, I'd be like, "Right on, life is good".

Why in the world would you resort to killing your son, and probably the only person that ever gave him true joy in the world?

How cruel and twisted.

Sounds to me like he was doing just fine, and no, no one's better off now that he and his child are dead.

I agree with you ontheclock. I am not defending this woman's actions whatsoever but she may have strongly resented the fact she had to look after her son all these years had had enough and wanted to live her own life with nobody dependent on her. In addition she may have worried about who would look after her son when she no longer was able to and justified in her sick mind that he was better of dead. She may have thought her granddaughter was better of dead when she had two parents in her view who were incapable of looking after her properly. What she has done is pure evil and there were other options available to help her she didn't have to resort to murdering her own flesh and blood and an innocent baby.

I feel very sad that her son may have spent his life being berated by his mother for things which were not his fault and he had no control over.

This is a tragic and terrible case I hope both father and daughter R.I.P and the victims wife is in my prayers. I am sure the mother will be charged appropriately for the heinous nature of this crime.

The notion of a grandmother and mother of four grown children stalking through a house, killing family members, is a stark contrast to her public persona as an artistic soul, painting landscapes around the world and assisting with projects at the Detroit Institute of Arts...

But thousands of court documents that span almost two decades show a different side, painting Majewska as a controlling and determined woman intent on directing her son Daryne’s life, even when he was a small boy, and particularly after he was diagnosed with a seizure disorder and cognitive disabilities...

“Daryne loved Amanda, and he wanted to be with her,” said attorney Thomas Brennan Fraser, who was appointed by the Oakland County Probate Court in April 2013, to oversee Gailey’s financial affairs as a conservator. “He wanted to be married to her. There was nothing to keep him from disappearing and marrying her again, and Sylvia was never going to let that happen.”

Majewska grew so belligerent as the marriage progressed and Hendrik became pregnant with Charley that Fraser grew concerned about his own safety and that of his staff. He refused to meet with Majewska on court matters, except at the Oakland County courthouse, and only then after she had passed through metal detectors.

If she resented the fact she "had " to look after him, why did she not let him be married and have his own life.

This case is very sad.
He looks so happy holding his baby..

"...Last month, she allegedly sliced her son's throat with a box cutter while he was in bed..."
*Emphasis mine*

"..... and discovered her father in the bathroom with a deep laceration from a boxcutter to his neck....."

Since most people don't sleep in the bathroom , wonder if he woke up from the pain and tried to get a towel from the bathroom to hold to his neck ? So sad and heinous of this terrible woman !
The DM article also indicates she wanted her son to leave his house/belongings for her , and not to his wife or daughter. What a greedy, conniving monster.
May she get the harshest penalty !
:moo:

Rest in peace, Daryne and precious little Charley !

I never would have guessed the grandmother did it when I started to read this thread today. The only motive I could think of was she was 65 & possibly burned out on the lifelong care of her son and saw 18+ years of more care coming and just lost it. Perhaps she might have sought out volunteers from church or a local hospital to stay with him on his overnight visitations to help him care for the baby. Respite care from child services?? Too late now, anyway. RIP daddy and baby.

If you read some of the various articles online about this young man, I doubt very much that his evil b*tch of a mother was "burned out" from taking care of him. He reportedly held down a job as a clerk at Kroegers for 15 years, and he had his own home (which she had him state in his will that he would leave to her) so obviously he did pretty well for himself in life. And he was able to spend one night per week, supervised, with his daughter. What kind of hardship would that be for a so-called Grandmother, to have your little granddaughter spending a whopping one night per week? Most Grandmas would be absolutely thrilled. Trying to track down the video alluded to in various news articles, that apparently LE have in their possession, showing how this monster publicly berated and humiliated her son in public.

As the mother of a child with special needs...
You want a few things for them, depending on ability level.

To be happy
To be healthy
To have life skills to care for themselves
To contribute something to society
To have people who love them
To have a partner and family if that's within their ability

This guy accomplished all of that despite his monster of a mother.
I would be thrilled if my daughter accomplishes what this man did.

I think she was upset that he was okay and happy without her.
So... she eliminated that with the divorce.

But that wasn't enough for her because he still had his daughter.
So, she eliminated them both.
He is not okay anymore and neither is his daughter. :twocents:

Sylvia Majewska, whose second forensic exam to determine whether she is fit for trial is still underway, was supposed to have a competency hearing Friday, Nov. 20, in 52-3 District Court.

However, forensic exams are ongoing, and the date was tentatively moved to Dec. 30, court clerks said, noting that date could change.

Majewska, following her first psychological exam, was declared unfit to stand trial.

Hearing postponed for woman charged in slaying of son, granddaughter in Oxford Township

http://www.theoaklandpress.com/general-news/20160928/hearing-postponed-for-woman-charged-in-slaying-of-son-granddaughter-in-oxford-township

More time is needed for the results of an independent psychological evaluation for an Addison Township woman charged in the deaths of her son and granddaughter, the woman’s attorney said Thursday in Oakland County Circuit Court.

During a pretrial hearing in the double murder case Thursday in Judge Denise Langford Morris’s courtroom, Majewska’s attorney, William Mitchell III said the independent evaluation he sought for his client was not yet complete. Langford Morris in court set another pretrial for 8:30 a.m. Oct. 27 to review the independent exam.

Majewska’s case has dragged along in district court and the Oakland County Circuit Court for nearly two years, largely due to a number of psychological tests ordered for the Addison grandmother.

Some tests came back with results that indicated Majewska was unfit for trial, while others stated Majewska was competent to assist in her own defense.

I didn't see anything for the hearing that was scheduled on October 27th.

Pretrial postponed for Addison Township grandma charged in deaths of son, grandchild

http://www.theoaklandpress.com/20161202/pretrial-postponed-for-addison-township-grandma-charged-in-deaths-of-son-grandchild

The necessity for further expert review of case documents circulating around an Addison Township woman accused in the 2014 slaying of her son and granddaughter has postponed another pretrial, according to prosecutors.

Sylvia Majewska, 66, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the death of her son, 29-year-old Daryne Gailey, and Gailey’s 7-month-old daughter, Charley Hendrick.

Majewska was set for a pretrial this week, but Chief Assistant Prosecutor Paul Walton said documents that needed to be reviewed by an expert weren’t delivered as scheduled. The hearing is now 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7 in Oakland County Circuit Judge Denise Langford Morris’s courtroom.

Majewska pleads no contest to second-degree murders of son, granddaughter

http://oxfordleader.com/majewska-pleads-no-contest-to-second-degree-murders-of-son-granddaughter/

It appears Sylvia Marie Majewska will spend up to 25 years in prison for killing her son and granddaughter nearly three years ago.

On Oct. 4, the 68-year-old Addison Township resident pleaded no contest to two counts of second-degree murder in Oakland County Circuit Court before Judge Denise Langford Morris. Her sentencing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26.

The premeditated murder charges against Majewska were dismissed and replaced with second-degree charges as part of a Cobbs agreement for a 25-year sentence.

Woman sentenced for brutal slaying of disabled son and infant granddaughter

http://www.theoaklandpress.com/general-news/20171026/woman-sentenced-for-brutal-slaying-of-disabled-son-and-infant-granddaughter

Sylvia Majewska, 68, was sentenced to 25-50 years Thursday by Oakland County Circuit Judge Denise Langford Morris for the November 2014 murders of her son, Daryne Gailey, and his infant daughter, Charley, in Gailey’s Oxford Township home. Gailey, 29, died after his throat was slashed. The baby died from head trauma.

In a victim’s impact statement read in court prior to sentencing, Gailey’s father, Andrew Gailey, called Majewska “pure evil” and told her to never again contact him or other family members.

“You will enter prison at the bottom of humanity. May you burn in hell,” he said.

Daryne Gailey’s ex-wife and Charley’s mother, Amanda Hendrick, sobbed as her victim impact statement was read by assistant prosecutor Tricia Dare. In her statement, Hendrick described Majewska as “a monster” who took away the loves of her life.
