“He has bruises and marks in the shape of something semi-circular. He has an anal tear and burn marks that were made post-mortem, meaning after he died,” said Assistant Prosecutor Tina Ripley. “There are just simply no words to describe how absolutely brutalized Deshaun was based on the facts and the evidence that we have.”

Authorities believe Hollamon and Traylor physically abused the boy, causing fatal injuries.

“The injuries that caused his death were within a day, but his body shows marks and scars from prolonged abuse,” Ripley said.

The judge said the couple are a danger to the community and were given no bond

They are expected to be arraigned on Wednesday, Oct. 25.

During their investigation, police found areas in the basement that had been cleaned to the naked eye, but blood was visible with a black light, Ripley said. Police also found evidence of blood on various items used as weapons, she said.

Home surveillance video showed Traylor carrying a "lifeless, moaning" Deshawn down to basement and Hollamon coming up and down from the basement multiple times. She came upstairs with Deshawn at 11:50 p.m. "in a panic," Ripley said.

Seven-year-old Deshawn was a stand-up guy, his dad said.

"He was my mini-me," he said through tears.

Delanso Tucker had seen his 7-year-old son not too long ago.

Tucker said it was hard to believe that Holloman could commit such atrocities.

"Not in my eyes, I mean, she was never that type of person in my eyes. I never got to spend that much time with Alisha and talk to her," he said.

"I can’t see anybody doing this to a kid," said Rosalind Johnson-Bolton, Deshawn's grandmother.

Johnson-Bolton said Deshawn was a happy kid and never showed any signs of being abused. She said it's possible that someone had threatened him to not say anything, but he never let on that anything was wrong.

Would sure be interesting to know if he meant not spending time with Alicia ever in general or if he meant more recently.

Deshawn's father, Delonso Tucker, said his son was smart and kept him going. Tucker was paralyzed after a crash several years ago and was further injured in a shooting the next year.

"We took good care of him," Tucker said. "I tried my best to keep him from that. I tried to get him to go to school out here."

"It looked as though he was dragged across a rough surface," Ripley said. "There are just simply no words to describe how absolutely brutalized Deshawn was. Based on the facts and evidence we have, Deshawn lived a nightmare."

Deshawn wasn't supposed to be with his mother, Tucker said. He was living with his grandmother after Tucker had seen bruises on his son that were allegedly left by his mother's boyfriend. But Hollamon had taken DeShawn from her mother's home, Tucker said.

"You just don't know what would drive people to do this to a child," Tucker said. "If I would've known my son was going through that, I would've never let him go back."
*this article explains a lot. :(

And they let him go back?? If there was a court order why didn't they call the police, or maybe there never was an order and the baby was let down by everyone.

I took from the article that Deshawn had been placed in his maternal grandmother's care after abuse allegations. That grandmother allowed her daughter to remove Deshawn from her home and did not report that. I believe Mr. Tucker was referencing that he wouldn't have allowed Deshawn to go back to the grandmother's if he believed she would then allow Hollamon to take him out of that home and place him in danger again.

At least that is how I read it.

Seriously, why why why fight to get these babies back/kidnap/make an effort to see them and then KILL them?! Like someone is taking care of them and it’s not you. If you have those feelings toward your child, get away from them? You don’t have responsibility so you shouldn’t have resentment for them. I don’t get it. Does anyone understand the compulsion?

I had to delete most of my post because it was mean. MOO IMO

During their arraignments, Hollamon's lawyer said she had no prior criminal history and Traylor's said there was no video showing him committing any criminal acts.

Jail records show Traylor was on probation for an unspecified conviction at the time of his arrest.

Deshawn's father, Delanso Tucker, told the Detroit News that the boy had been living with his grandmother after Tucker saw bruises on him and that he wasn't supposed to be at his mother's home.
