JD's remains were located about 20 mins from where Tisha was last known to have been when she called her bf. It would be nice to know if the shirt she was wearing was actually a sweater, although I doubt she'd be wearing a sweater in June.

It could be possible Tisha was wearing a light sweater, though we don't know what type of sweater JD was found in. I looked at the weather forecast for the night she went missing and it dropped into the high 50's.

The vast majority of identified Does (especially more recent ones) never get any acknowledgement of being identified outside of their NamUs being taken down. If this person is never publicly named it wouldn't be out of the ordinary at all.

That's one of the possibilities for public identification. There are others including:

1) The decedent is identified and next-of-kin can't be located so they are moved to ClaimUs, the section of NamUs for unclaimed bodies. Example from 2025 (discovered in 1993): Michael Foster at Unidentified Awareness wiki

2) The decedent ends up being a known reported missing/deceased person whose case was publicized beforehand. The fact that they have been located deceased will be made known in this case. Example from 2023 (this boy disappeared in 2005, his remains were found in 2022): Logan Nathaniel Bowman at Unidentified Awareness wiki

3) The decedent's identity is publicly released through a local/state government website or report but otherwise is not publicized in the media. This happens a lot with recent cases because they just aren't notable enough to get lots of coverage. Example from 2025 (discovered 2022, recently marked as identified at the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's website): Joshua Martin Manning at Unidentified Awareness wiki.

For this case I would give it some time because Jane Doe's NamUs was only removed a couple hours ago. An identification may have been made, or it could have just been an error and the page will go back up soon. If there is an identification, whether or not it will be publicized is up to several factors including cause of death, whether or not the death is the subject of an active investigation, and the wishes of the next of kin). Sometimes identifications are only publicly announced several years after they have taken place.
