Case History: Body was found lying face up on the ground in a vacant lot adjacent to the E/B I-94 service drive near 12th Street. The vacant lot was cluttered with junk and adjacent to a fire gutted building. The remains were skeletal when found and appeard to have been doused with gasoline and burned.

What about Cassandra Elizabeth Durham? The last time anyone contacted her was August of 1987 when she was staying at her boyfriend's grandfather's house in Roscommon, MI. That's only about 2 hours from Detroit. They had left from Baltimore, MD. The boyfriend returned to Baltimore in 1988-1989 but no one has heard from Cassandra. She was 19 and her height is listed as 5'5 (UID is listed as 5'4). The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)


There isn't much information out there on Cassandra but based on the circumstances it seems like her boyfriend could know something about her disappearance. Maybe he disposed of her body near where they were staying and then headed back to Baltimore? There's painfully little information available on her. It looks like her father reported her missing.

35 years ago: Young woman’s skeletal remains found burned in vacant lot in Detroit

DETROIT – The skeletal remains of a young woman discovered in a vacant lot in Detroit 35 years ago are still unidentified.

The remains were found on Jan. 12, 1988, lying face up on the ground in a vacant lot adjacent to the eastbound I-94 service drive near 12th Street.

Officials said the vacant lot was cluttered with junk and adjacent to a building that had been gutted by fire. The remains were skeletal when found and appeared to have been doused with gasoline and burned.

The woman is estimated to have been between 15 to 25 years old and estimated to be 5′4′' tall. She had been dead for weeks before her body was discovered.
