This body was floating the detroit river. The body was decomposed with a PMI of a year and the head and the hands were missing.
She is estimated 5'1 and 125 pounds. She had dark brown-black hair.
If no DNA here, which is fairly likely, she will never be identified. But hopefully somebody could find some more information about her or some possible matches?

How was hair color determined if her head was not recovered?

Body hair
If body hair is inclusive of pubic hair, which it would be, then I do not personally see that as definitive.

Unless a DNA sample can be collected, I unfortunately don’t see this being solved. We don’t know the race of the victim and since the body was nude, there is no identifiable clothing which a family member may have recognized. The PMI of about a year makes me wonder if the wire was at one point attached to a heavy object which prevented the body from floating to the surface sooner. I wonder what type of wire was used.

According to officials, the woman’s head and hands had been removed. They were not recovered.

She was found on April 8, 1968, and was completely nude. She is estimated to have been 5′1′' tall and weighed around 125 pounds.

Officials believe she had been dead for one year before her body was found.

Anyone with information should contact the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office at 313-833-2504. The case number is 68-2919.
