I hope Mr. Payan is alright. I was recently in a hospital (nowhere near his) and noted how exhausted and overworked the young doctors seemed. IMO something needs to change in hospital culture worldwide, but that's all I'll say about that.
Please be okay, sir. You matter so much in this world.
The burnout within the hospital staff is so real. Add on the holiday season and his area of specialty…I really hope is just taking an extended leave of absence. I also hope that hospitals can take further measures to address the mental well-being of their staff

If not for Websleuths, I wouldn't have known about this missing physician. Until I read this WDIV (Detroit) report this morning, I had not seen anything about Dr. Payan in local media.

JACKSON, Mich. – Police are asking for help locating a Michigan doctor who was last seen at Henry Ford Allegiance Health in Jackson.

According to Blackman-Leoni Public Safety of Blackman Charter Township, located 5 miles north of Jackson, Dr. Bolek Payan was last seen on Dec. 22, leaving the Jackson Hospital. Officials stated in a Facebook post that Payan’s car was found at his residence in Leoni Township...

This is new, as well.
A doctor who works at a hospital near Jackson has been missing for five days and police are asking the public for help finding him, officials said.

Dr. Bolek Payan, who works at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, was last seen leaving the building Thursday, according to the Blackman-Leoni Public Safety Department...

Link to what appears to be his FB, which I neglected to provide in an earlier post: Log in or sign up to view
There is not much public, but he appears to be a dog owner, imo.

A white pages search shows an address for a person with the same name on N Portage Road in Jackson. https://www.whitepages.com/name/Bolek-Payan/Jackson-MI?fs=1&searchedName=Bolek Payan&searchedLocation=Jackson, MI.

This road (depending on actual address) looks to be about a 10-15 minute drive to his employer, Henry Ford Allegiance, per Google Maps.

If he is a dog owner and if he puts his dog in care while working the long shifts that residents often work, perhaps he went home after his shift to shower/eat/nap before intending to pick up his pooch? Just speculating on that, but it could explain why his car was found at his home. MOO

Edits: clarifying speculation vs. fact

I'd want to see cameras in the area to see what occurred around the area after he was home. Did he leave on foot, someone come asking for help...?
RSBM
I took a short ride on N Portage with the Google car, and it looks like many of the houses are set back pretty far from the road. Hoping some of the closer houses do have useful cameras, even if the weather was bad.
Edit: road name

Snip

Family friend Nicole Keiser said that this is uncharacteristic of Payan. “Thursday morning Bolek dropped his dogs at 8 a.m. He told us that he was going to pick them up at 6:30, he already fed them, and that he’ll feed them again when he picks them up at 6:30 that night,” said Keiser. “So for his truck to be here without coming to the house to pick up the dogs that would be out of character. Something happened and I don’t know what.”

“Obviously with the weather and things like that, it kind of slowed things down but now we’re kind of amping things back up. We do have some dogs coming out and we’re exhausting all measures to make sure that we can do everything we can to try and locate him,” said Sergeant Steve Stowe, Blackman Township Police.

I’m more worried about his mental health than anything else.

Is he actually an American?
or Polish who came to live and work in the USA?

I'm wondering if he may have had trouble settling in, and I wanted to clarify that part of it....

Thank you.

I'm really worried considering the horrible weather they've been having in the area. I know it was asked upthread, but do we know if he had a habit of walking / running? Perhaps after work as a means of decompressing? I hope he didn't go out in the storm......

Sometimes this is a small comfort, but I’m glad his dogs are safe.

DOCTOR Bolek Payan has been missing for five days after he was last seen on Thursday, Dec. 22.

Family and friends are worried because Payan’s truck was found at his residence, but no one has seen or heard from him since he left Henry Ford Hospital in Jackson on Thursday.

Blackman Township Police has informed News 10 that they are actively searching for him and do not have any leads at the moment.

Co-workers and friends have taken to social media to ask people to keep the doctor's family in their prayers.

I hadn't considered the doctor's mental health, but I have wondered if he had an unfortunate altercation with a psychiatric patient. Or, possibly, a family member of a patient who visited the hospital expressed dissatisfaction regarding medication, treatment plan, visiting hours, etc. of a family member. JMO

Healthcare workers are frequently attacked by patients, and less frequently by family members.
It is considered part of the job and is not reported to LE.

Located deceased - devastating outcome.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. today, divers recovered the body of Dr. Payan from a pond on the property near his residence. Yesterday, detectives gained access into the home video camera system, which was password protected, and observed Dr. Payan leave the residence on foot on 12/22/22, in the mid-afternoon. The property had been checked with K-9 dogs, drones and on foot. After not locating anything on land, holes were cut in the ice of a pond on the property yesterday and divers located Dr. Payan’s body under the ice today. Detectives believe Dr. Payan would have been deceased, prior to when he was reported missing, due to the weather conditions on the day that he left his residence and the fact that he was in the water. The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office will be conducting an autopsy and toxicology testing, which will aid in further investigating this incident.

We would like to thank the Jackson County Dive Team, Michigan Search and Rescue, J-DART, the neighbors, and the public for their assistance during this incident. Our thoughts are with Dr. Payan’s family and friends.

Received confirmation that Dr Bolek was found deceased today.

Sorry for the delay in posting as I got word earlier, but did not want to share until verified by LE.
