How old is the child? Did LE ever interview him/her to see what they had to say? Is it possible the eGF thought Eric was going to "take" the child.....?

sf has posted that they're not comfortable releasing the age of the child.

But in one of sf's posts, the term "for several years" (or some-such) was used in regards to how long Eric went without knowing about the child.

I keep thinking that there may have been some conflict between the hubby and Eric. That would work for Eric just up and leaving on his own, as well, if it wasn't that the eGF had been seen emptying out Eric's motel room by herself. :(

I truly meant no offense to you or your family, searchingfamily, but it's a fact that adults can and do leave family, friends, relatives for extended periods of time for no apparent reason. It's not at all unusual that these individuals need space and time away from what's familiar to do some serious soul-searching and perhaps discover who they are and what's important to them.

No offense taken, and we know it happens. We'd love to be wrong about our suspicions/ fears.

I don't want to jump to the conclusion that Eric met with foul play, but I think that the exGF and her husband should be reinterviewed and submit to polygraphs. Something about the exGF, Eric learning that he had fathered a child by her, and her moving Eric's belongings out of the motel at the time of his disappearance raises my hinky meter several degrees. :moo:

Those are our concerns as well - why do the motel owner and the eGF's stories differ so starkly on the matter of Eric's personal belongings being taken out of the room?

searching family, do you have anyone near this area? Maybe look into a PI? Many times if the car is gone too, it is in water. Most of the country has experienced drought so the rivers and lakes would be low right now. Did he like to fish? Did exgf and/or hubby like to fish?

I went back and saw that but I still wonder if the child hasn't been interviewed, the only problem with interviewing a child is they have to be interviewed with a parent and if eGF or New husband are there that may keep the child from being truthful, who knows what they told him/her about Eric. Unfortunately I'm thinking botched abduction gone terribly wrong. I sincerely hope I'm wrong

Does Eric have a passport ? Are you aware of him ever traveling out of the country?

Is anyone keeping track of all this information and could we get it in one post at the beginning of the thread?

they work with local LE (they would search based on case details)

Do metal detectors work on bodies of water? For example, could a helicopter have some kind of equipment, like a metal detector, that would work from the air on what's underwater? Or would the metal detectors have to be in close proximity?
I remember reading about a case where someone was missing, and they found the car underwater, but I don't know if it was because they were using a metal detector, or if they analyzed the ground and realized something big had gone thru or near the trees.
Another time there had been a huge flood and the car was found and that's all I remember. I'm not much help here, am I?

fwiw...on his twitter account he does have a lot of California tweeters he followed at some point so perhaps he did have an interest to go there?

Sports, news.....many LA tweets. Unfortunately, there is no conversation. Just tweets he selected to follow at some point.

I've been looking at that account, and for all the tweets he did, it's certainly strange that all of a sudden, there is silence. No tweets. March 10, 2011. NOTHING.

SF, has anyone gone thru his tweets and checked them for information as well as do they all sound like Eric? No one impersonating him on Twitter?

Yes the ex moving the stuff out of the room is the main thing to me which needs to be looked at. Imo Eric would've been in contact w/ someone. Anyone. also if it were suicide then body or vehicle would've been located. I don't understand why ex would feel the need to remove his stuff. And if he just left like she says he did then he would've taken his stuff so I'm stumped right there, his last known contact. And finding that car. I wish I were closer just to drive around that area, car could still be just sitting around.

She took the stuff because to leave it behind might be evidence, and would definitely be evidence that he didn't leave on his own. With his stuff gone, she can say he left, besides removing any potential evidence. If his stuff was still there, the motel owner would have a quicker reason to call the police. This way, the motel owner doesn't need to call the police at all.
You know, depending on the age of the child, how long she was involved with her husband, and if her husband was a decent guy, he could have bonded with the child enough and the child could even believe the husband is the child's father. Eric may have rocked their boat enough they wanted him gone. SF, I am so sorry to say that but it seems an obvious possibility

I don't agree with the BBM. I think that works more for them getting rid of Eric. They, or she, didn't want Eric involved in the child's life. I think this is the issue in a nutshell. IMO. exgf didn't want the child and Eric to bond. exgf didn't want Eric in the child's life. At all.
It would be so great for Eric to show up and prove me wrong.

Wonderful news and thanks to you and all that made this happen. Hopefully this movement will generate interest and new leads in finding out what happened to Eric. Finding the fingerprint is so encouraging and it will open up many avenues.

At this point, I don't feel that I/we have enough information about Eric or others pertinent to the case, so it's best to keep an open mind and not rush to conclusions or hasty judgments. Best to keep my hinky meter in a temperate zone. :moo:
