In 2019, police officers searched the Gourdneck State Game Area for the teen, the same place investigators searched Feb. 12, 2021, for missing Gary and Laura Johnson. Armold said Nicholas Johnson, the son of Gary and Laura, was a person of interest in both his parent's suspected homicide and Pena's disappearance.

Yep, no one saw this coming.
What a crazy twist.
I sure hope justice will be served (piping hot!) for all 3 victims.

Portage Public Safety Director Nick Armold said two bodies found in the Gourdneck State game Area were believed to be Gary and Laura Johnson, but there is no positive identification at this time. He said one of the bodies found was confirmed to be male and it was unclear of the gender of the second body.

I saw this in a comment under a MSM article on FB but didn't have a chance to look into it. Great Job/find. I hope he confesses to give his family some kind of resolution. IMO

What heartbreaking news, even if expected. Apparently this “son” has a history of suspected violence. How bizarre they might solve another case along with the Johnsons.

Mother wrote protection order on 3/18/18 which expired on 3/1/19 ( fathers expired on 9/15/18, not sure when it was applied for)
1st protection order was granted on 5/18/18
Bonifacio Pena went missing on 5/19/18 ( just adding since it was already discussed)
Another break in the parents home on 9/7/19 and another protection order on 9/7/19
This does not include the home invasion he had in 2014 ( nothing said yet on who's home it was)
These parents knew they were dealing with one heck of a problem. IMO Breaks my heart

Apr 24, 2019 - Aerial Search of Gourdneck State Game Area for Bonifacio Pena.
Dec 30, 2020 - Nicholas Johnson absconded probation.
Feb 3, 2021 - Gary and Laura Johnson were last seen.

You can find 13 of his mugshots at this link, although the charges are unknown for a few listings. Also, let's not forget he has a juvenile record that is likely sealed. I wonder if at any point the courts ever ordered mental health care as part of his sentencing? As Ms. Johnson wrote when she petitioned for a protection order on 1 Mar 2018, he clearly needed MH intervention.

Page 3: "At this point, Gary and I are concerned for our safety and others safety and we are done with allowing him to keep destroying our house and property and are concerned that he has crossed the line and has now hurt someone (me). I need him to stay away from us for a while and he needs some mental health help."

In his mugshots he appears to be a very angry and defiant individual. It must have been so heartbreaking to realize your child has mental issues and you cannot get him help! So many people with mental issues do not want help and the courts will not order it. I don't know what the solution is, but our mentally ill need intervention somehow! JMO

This is such a tragedy. I wonder what his diagnoses are, what leads to this level of anger and violence?

I hope answers also come soon for the family of the missing teen. This must be a nightmare for them. May they be surrounded by support and true friendship at this time.
