Police were working Monday to identify the body of man pulled from the Detroit River over the weekend.

Police said the body — of a black man in his late 30s to late 40s — was found by a fisherman Saturday afternoon, floating in the water in the Humbug Marina near Gibraltar.

Just 10 miles away from Detroit and 18 miles from Gibraltar, there's a business in Melvindale called Cherry Optical that produces and sells optical products (lenses). Could he have worked there?

I imagine, because of the fact that he was wearing two t-shirts, he was homeless. He could've picked up either of these shirts anywhere. They could've been donated clothing or clothes he was given by someone else. Though this business being local does tell us the man probably was too, or had been in the area long enough to obtain clothing from a local company.

The Gibraltar Police Department has identified the body of a man who was found floating in the Detroit River near Humbug Marina March 14...

Detective Sgt. David Hammar said the man was identified through fingerprints. He said the man's name would not be released until early next week so the family can be notified.

I found his name, they did end up releasing the name a couple days later.

The Gibraltar Police Department has identified a man whose body was found in the Detroit River near Humbug Marina on March 14 as 52-year-old Cornell Lowman.
