Could also be a "synthetic marijuana" which isn't actually marijuana but herbs and spices sprayed with chemicals. Some users also take their clothes of. It also could cause violent and irrational behavior.

Maybe in the car ride back he thought his parents were out to get him, like my ex did with me. It's like getting stuck...that's your only focus. You try and get rid of those people first because they are the most scary. If you have a weapon you fight them off. Then you hide from the other "people". They are always there.

He never really left campus like I said he wouldn't, or didn't seem to. I think he was in hiding somewhere....maybe from other "people". It's really hard to explain if you've never witnessed a psychotic break, and I hope you never have to. There is no logical thought process that goes into it at all. You're just getting rid of the evil you see at that time. Usually that happens to be what is closest to you...if that makes any sense at all.

Yes. The ride from the hospital to the dorm. I can imagine the conversation and what was said was not to his liking. He knew (mo) his father’s gun was in the vehicle.

At one time wasn’t mj laced with pcp called click-ums? During my psych rotation in nursing school we had more than one patient affected by this combo of drugs. Just absolutely crazy effects, and they seemed pretty permanent.

I'm not 'street smart' so I only know what I read or have heard from others. But from what I've read, you are correct
that there can be permanent brain damage from some of these new drugs as well as having additional damage
done by the antidotes in trying to bring the patient back to reality.

Who knows what this young man had been taking/doing for drugs or for how long. It's possible his problem had
been going on for several years and his parents kept pushing him along barely keeping him as a mainstreamed
student while in the background he was drugging every chance he got.

As per his tweets, he was not looking forward to spending his spring break at home with his parents. This may have
all been part of a plan to exert more anger at his parents or maybe toward his hard handed father. There was a
definite war of sorts going on with him and his parents.

Paranoia makes sense. Especially since he was paranoid that someone was out to get him a few days prior.

Paranoia could be a side effect of illicit drug use. Marijuana laced with PCP and synthetic marijuana could cause paranoia.

If it remained a gun free zone, presumably parents would still be alive. As far as I can tell, father brought the gun with him and left it in his car, where his son was able to access it and killed both parents.

He's the right age for onset of schizophrenia... I wonder what made LE think drugs rather than mental health? Could also be both, self medicating...

What made LE think drugs. My guess is because he admitted he was using them.

I think active LE who deal with drug OD's and young people doing all kinds of drugs get pretty good at identifying
"stuff" going on in that world.
Plus LE may have asked around in his dorm and the others told that jr. had been sitting in his room doing mj all day,
everyday, according to fellow dorm mates. His mom just confirmed that he had a history of doin' drugs.

I wonder if Davis jr's parents knew he had dropped all his classes that semester/quarter? Especially upsetting for them since they had paid for them. Probably 5-$6,000 or more for that semester down the drain. He knew his college life was at a crossroads. Maybe they knew and were going to pull him out of school. Definitely a dilemma.
did this play a part in the confrontation?
