I think its a fair guess his parents weren't happy with him. Sounds like issues he was having with his parents were going on for quite a while.

"Sources tell CBS 2 Davis had a strained relationship with his parents and spent the last year of high school living with another family."

Thanks jjenny. Ok I had questioned this previously, why he switched hs for his senior year. Yup, problems were
brewing. So that would make it at least 3 or more years that he may have been screwing off. Wonder how his
grades, behavior, drug habits were during that senior year.
I suspect as he turned 15-16 he started acting out, maybe different type friends, maybe took up drugs. Seems to
be a pivotal time when he started to slide.
To have your son move out of your home shows huge conflicts at home at that time.

Several of Davis’ roommates locked themselves in a room of the dorm during the murder. A CMU student texted his mother in Detroit and said, “ma, I think my roommate just shot his mom,” a distraught woman said Friday.
Her son told her that another roommate ran in the bedroom and locked the door because he said there was gunfire in the common area.
“I just told him to stay in his dorm and when the police did finally come to get them out, he said the father was across his bedroom door, I guess he had to step over him,” she said, holding back tears.
