I suspect my dad being the cause of my brother's disappearance and demise. There are many records that dad left behind after he passed in 2015, and things he said to me, that have aroused these suspicions. I've written much more about this in a soon to be published book. I was very close to Hank, and all these years I've missed him greatly. He was severely ill with schizophrenia and drank a lot. I think his mental illness was a result of trauma from sexual abuse as i believe most mental issues are. My father had PTSD and was hospitalized in France during the close of WW2 and the ending of the European/American conflict with Germany. Dad never seeked help or counseling. I think this had a lot to do with Hank's troubles as much physical and emotional abuse was inflicted on him, myself, and the rest of my siblings by dad. There are many drawings my brother did that show a very troubled mind and seem to indicate he knew dad would (mercy) kill him and that he would die soon. Much more is told in my book of why I believe this. I delve into a lot of profound details of my life story and Blair family history as well. This includes Hank's drawings and some of the records I mentioned. Posted are a couple of Hank's drawings of dad and Hank's self- portrait. These and much more will be published in my book.

Hi - so sorry to hear about your brother, this makes me really sad to read about his struggles. I must admit, his drawings are kind of disturbing, but I guess he maybe told his stories thru drawings? I hope you get answers about your brother and one day find out exactly what happened to him.

Is Law Enforcement actively pursing his case?

Yes, I recently filed a missing person's report on my brother. A detective is on the case. My parents never filed a missing person's on Hank. They of course, are now passed away, w/ my father having passed 10 years ago. Even back in 1965, when Hank first disappeared, nobody filed a MPR w/ police. Yes, my brother told me that he said more through his drawings and artwork than he ever could with words. Thank you for replying and your kind words.

Hello Kevin and welcome to websleuths. My heart truly goes out to you and everything you have gone through. Heartbreaking no missing report was ever filed for him. Glad you have finally done it!
Thank you for sharing these drawings they are really moving and deep on many levels. I really pray you find your brother and have closure.

I was wondering in the drawings you mentioned self portrait Hank has long hair beard and mustache. In the missing photos on the profile he is clean cut.
By any chance do you happen to know what he looked like when he went missing? That would help in searching.
Again thank you for sharing your family story with us. I will see if I can find a match out there and help.

Thanks for your post. I don't have any photos current to the time he dissapeared

Hello websleuths; thank you for replying, and for your kind words. I don't have any photos of Hank current to the time he disappeared. His self portrait posted above is very much what he looked like at the time (1977). He may have also been wearing the flat-brimmed, western hat you see in the "motorcycle" drawing. Yes, the drawings are very deep and meaningful. When Hank was at Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital, he drew many drawings like the ones you see above. They were all comprised in a collection of some 600 to 800 drawings in a 4- inch thick folder. Unfortunately, my father got a hold of these and destroyed them all. The ones you see above, plus another 10 or so not posted, are the only ones that have survived. Hank gave these to me shortly before he left.

Hello Madamex;
Here is a post I made on Bob Porco's blog. He is the grandson of Mike Porco, who had run Folk City in Greenwich Village from 1950 - 1980. It might help knowing a little more history about Hank and the people he met and played music with in the Village (1965 -1966); Michael Mann in particular, for they both had similar life experiences and they lived in Greenwich Village. As you know Greenwich Village has a rich history of art and music, drawing creative people from all over the world.

My brother, Hank Blair, knew Michael Mann and spent a lot of time with him. Hank wrote about Mann in his journal. He mentioned what a great guitar player Michael Mann was. Like Mann, my brother also played the Greenwich Village scene but arrived a little later in 1965 - 66. Hank was a very troubled individual. He drank excessively and wandered the Village... once in central park, screaming songs all night into the morning hours, on guitar and harmonica. Hank wrote songs also. He was a very good artist. He came to his own as a visual artist moreso than with music. He made a record in one of the area indie companies. Judging from Hank's writings, he and Mann hung out together and jammed a lot. Hank also met Bob Dylan. In Hank's journal, he wrote about a time when he was having an episode of hearing voices and having paranoid delusions. Bob drove him to the hospital, which was a very kind thing for him to do, especially during his busy career and rise to fame at that time. Anyway, that's only part of the story. There's much about Michael Mann and Hank Blair that I'll never know, because much detail was left out. Mann was known to have played with Bob Dylan, and many other musicians who performed in the cafes of the Village. Hank wrote a lot more in his journal about the many people he met and hung out with. Hank also went by several monikers, such as "Richard Dean", "Byrdman", and "Wizard Hank". My brother ran away and disappeared many times in his life to escape the pressures of his tormented mind. Right now, I'm trying to find out what happened to Hank. The last time he was seen was in Kalamazoo Michigan, 1977. My parents never filed a missing person's report on Hank. I assumed they did because of all the worry and effort all the adults in my family put into locating him. Last year, (2024 August) I filed a missing person's report w/ the state police of Michigan and gave them a DNA sample to match for any possible remains that could be found on Hank. I've also written a book about my life and times, and it comprises the story of my brother and my time with him.
We were very close, but our time was cut short by the circumstances I describe. I think my father may have murdered Hank. In my father's mind it was a mercy kill, and indeed Hank suffered tremendous hardships in his daily life living with the disease of schizophrenia. My father also had PTSD. It's a very involved very strange story of abuse and trauma. There's much more to my story in my personal life as well, with my conversion and life experiences, soon to be published in my book. If anyone ever met my brother, please let me know. My email is [email protected]. Thanks and God bless! - Kevin

Here is a link posted to inform the public of Hank's dissappearence:
MI - MI - Henry Stirling Blair III, 32, Kalamazoo, 12 August 1977 Also type in Hank Blair NAMUS. It will lead to other links. I'm also a musician and artist inspired by the music and art of that period. If one is interested, here is a link to my rumble and YouTube sites: Rumble Auth /

Out In this sea of mass robotic ai strangeness, I'm searching to connect with any surviving like-minds and hearts who love the Good Lord! Kevin.

PS. Does anyone know of any recordings or phonograph records of Hank Blair or Mike Mann? Or maybe both in a band?

PSS.

@Kevin Blair , I am so sorry about your brother. But at the same time, I am glad you have found Websleuths. There are wonderful and caring people here who might be able to help with suggestions on various avenues which could help in your brothers case. My suggestion is you might want to become a verified insider, which confirms you are indeed who you say you are. It also means you do not have to provide a link to what you state as fact. Otherwise some of your posts can be removed by the moderators. Simply go to the Home page, scroll down to About Websleuths, then open Verified Professional and Insider Members, and finally Verification Process
for Professional or Insider Members. JMO MOO

Do you mean websleuth Guardian? That's what I found. I don't find "About Websleuths" or " Verified Professionals" or "Verification Process".
I see there's a learning curve I've got to deal with here.

@Kevin Blair , I'm sorry I wasn't very clear. Websleuths Guardian is something else that is new and it is a subscription where you pay a small sum for extra perks and privileges. I would link but I'm terrible at it. At the top of this page , hit the Home link to take you to the main page of the website.
Then scroll down to the bottom of the page where you should see About Websleuths and you should be able to go from there. Hope this helps. I will tag some other members who actually know how to link, lol. @madamx , @chaddylex , can you help Kevin out of my mess!!
