After 37 years, Monroe County John Doe (1986) is identified
Monroe County Sheriff's Office Teams with Othram to Identify a 1986 Homicide Victimdnasolves.com
The facial description was pretty good. Long, thin face, overbite, high forehead. The Othram link says that:
Detectives later learned that Brauner was believed to have been a victim of a homicide in Wayne County, Michigan. The homicide case was adjudicated in Wayne County in the summer of 1990. Due to the outcome of the criminal adjudication in 1990, Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough is announcing that the Monroe County Sheriff’s Homicide investigation is closed.
I'm not totally sure what the homicide case being adjudicated means. I guess that they decided someone had done it? Or not done it? You would think it was the former if the case is closed.
I was similarly puzzled about the 1990 "adjudication." Does it mean the murder case went to trial without a body being found? I'd sure like to know what the result of that adjudication was. Agreed, you'd think the culprit(s) were found guilty for Monroe County to close the case so quickly.
You'd also think Mr. Bruner's remains would be important for the other county (Wayne County) to be looking for since 1986. The two counties border each other.
Something seems to have been swept under the rug here - unless someone knows more.
