Wow they appear to NOT be blaming Mom, that's for sure.
People are angry though.

i wish people would not get so ugly so quickly, my mom comes from a family of 7 kids (she's in her 70's) 2 died, many people from that age range had siblings die, much had to do with economics(could'nt buy medicine, no babysitters except the older siblings) the world has'nt changed that much, except many people are more judgemental, very rightous and want to lynch people before they know the facts, and they don't even know the person, so much hate.
There is a huge difference between beating the life out of your child and a mistake. jmo

I don't do Facebook (or any other social networking) and can only read sites that are open to the public. In the case of this local tragedy, I'm glad that I'm unable to view the mom's FB page.

Elsewhere on this board, there is another local case of a babysitter who left a youngster alone in the mom's condo, took the mother's car, got drunk, and was involved in an accident. Thankfully, in that case, the child is alright, but the babysitter now faces multiple charges.

I don't facebook either. I believe a few of society's ills would not exist without it.

I believe people might be misinterpreting angry comments.
They appear to be addressed towards the babysitter, not the mother.
Though initially that wasn't clear, if you continue reading it is clarified. :seeya:

I don't get the impression they think it's intentional, they just want an outlet for their anger. :twocents:
Unfortunately in that anger they weren't initially clear about WHO they blamed. That was later clarified.

The mobile home park where this tragedy occurred is about 7 miles from my home. High temps yesterday were in the mid- to upper-70s in these parts. Today it was in the low 80s. I have an outdoor crew (adult males) working at my home and made sure both days that they had plenty of water to stay cool and hydrated. They take occasional breaks and sit under the shady maple tree in our front yard These young men are accustomed to outdoor working conditions and know how to take care of themselves. It saddens me to think that this 2-year-old boy was left alone in a closed vehicle with no way to protect himself from the heat and no one making sure that he was safe

Does anyone else think the mother was going to drop him off somewhere and strapped him into one vehicle, then forgot about him & took the other one to work?

The other possibility I guess is if the roommate was going to take him somewhere & then went inside and forgot about him.

I feel horrible for the grandpa - he is so devastated.

Toddler's death in minivan outside Shelby Twp. residence stuns neighbors

Shelby Township— A 2-year-old James Everett Lawrence Nelson was believed to have been left strapped in his safety seat in a blue minivan for as many as 11 hours before his body was discovered, police said.

Police are trying to determine who was the last to see James and who strapped him in the safety seat before he died from heat stroke Tuesday after being left unattended in the parked vehicle with the windows rolled up outside his home in the Dequindre Estates mobile home park.

The boy’s mother, whom police identified as Audrionna Rhoades, 21, had gone to work at her job in Rochester on Tuesday, but it was unclear who was looking after the toddler — identified by his grandfather as James Everett Lawrence Nelson — at the time he was found unresponsive in the Dodge minivan just after 6 p.m., said Shelby Township Police Chief Roland Woelkers.

“It could have been a baby sitter, the grandparents or the mother,” Woelkers said...

how hard is it to determine who was suppose to be watching this child? We arent talking about a dog or cat or a potted plant. Come on. If she works regularly then I'm assuming there is some sort of conversation with someone about who is watching James. So far, it seems she didnt have a day care or anything for him, so who was the last person to put him in the car??? Just seems everyone is in CYA mode to me.

I had a coworker that did not have regular child care for her two kids. It was a baby daddy situation. She never knew from one day to the next who would be watching the kids. It could be her dad or sister, the daddy, or the daddy's family. She had the attitude she was a single working mom so family owed it to her to keep them for free. It would have made me nuts always on the phone begging someone to keep the kids, didnt seem to bother her at all. Maybe this was a situation like that.
