I'm thinking it's to distance themselves from any illegal activities that were going on at the business. What are licensing requirements and permits to operate a dungeon in the basement of a bar? Did they serve drinks down there? Were they allowed to? JMO.

Poor Jane...and her kids. This is just awful...the whole story. His actions impede on all their lives...taking his wife's life as part of his web of control.

Did I see this story as a Lifetime movie?

And if they're not - they should be. As the media keeps pointing out, this is a smallish community. I find it unbelievable that some of the rumors / knowledge of BB having a girlfriend (apparently of 4 years), and basement sex dungeons didn't find it's way to at least one or two of his cronies. They may have kept if from their wives or maybe no one wanted to be the one to share 'rumors' with Jane.

Still no arrest of BB though. I'm starting to wonder if he really did cover his tracks just enough. I've seen some tweets from someone that grew up with Joe Gentz and they claim he is 'mentally challenged'. This could account for his conflicting stories and he would make a perfect accomplice to BB because he could be easily manipulated but then his story would be confused. Just a thought.

Perhaps she did - but I would think not - just my opinion though. The new attorney is alluding to that though which I think is incredibly distasteful since she is not here to speak for herself. So it appears part of his defense is to say Jane knew of this and was ok with it so it is not part of the motive. From the Detroit Free Press - "Griem said his client "loved his wife dearly," adding that "there are many types of marriages today."

The lawyer also addresses the sex dungeon in the same story "Griem said accounts of Bob Bashara having a locked basement room with chains and a mattress in one of his commercial properties "are only rumor and innuendo," probably traceable to the purported accomplice.

"I'm questioning, first, the source of those rumors," Griem said. "I'm not sure that if someone has an alternative lifestyle that they should be painted as guilty of a crime."

Jane may or may not have known. It could be a case of the marriage being so bad, she was like, fine, do what you want, but leave me alone. I tend to think she didn't know. I also think she may have recently found out and was going to file for divorce, hence the murder.

I find that super, duper creepy. Why would he even mention those murders? Makes me wonder if he is involved in those as well or knows something about it. This is one bizarre dude.

I was just looking at the map.... and the trunk murders were found on the east side as well (around promenade ave)..

Jane was found on the east side as well....

very strange that he said that... esp considering that now the trunk murders have been tied to escorts who were advertising on backpage.com (considering the latest that has come out about him advertising on alt.com)
