Former Bob Bashara attorney David Griem accepted responsibility in court for violating a protective order in the Bashara case and will face a sanctioning hearing on Nov. 26 in 36th District Court in Detroit.

Griem apologized to the court and the Wayne County prosecutor for violating the order that prohibited information from being shared with any third party.

In another case, Griem also accepted responsibility for filing a subpoena for a non-existent case involving handyman Joe Gentz.

The article is updated at the Source now ... -- some additional details:

• The judge set a sanctioning hearing, or sentencing, for Nov. 26 at which time he could face monetary sanctions. It’s possible he could face discipline from the attorney grievance commission.

• Bob Bashara faces at least four years in prison when he is sentenced on Nov. 20 for trying to hire a hit man to kill Gentz.

• Grosse Pointe Park Police Chief David Hiler this week said the murder investigation remains open, indicating additional charges could be forthcoming.

Another "BB wanna-be"? :)

Another Michigan "winner, murder-for-hire" husband / ex-husband...

Investigation centers on ex-husband in murder-for-hire plot

(WXYZ) - An investigation into a murder-for-hire plot targeting an Armada woman now centers on her ex-husband.

Sources say Kevin Sears, 34, was arrested at his Richmond home Thursday. He is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to solicit murder. Sears was denied bond during an interim bond hearing held Saturday morning.

It’s the second time Sears has been taken into custody in connection with the case . He was arrested in April 2011 along with several other people. Sears was released, but four of the other five have since been convicted on serious crimes.

Investigators say Sears’ girlfriend, Mallorie Wilson-Strat, and Sears’ sister, Christina Sears , hatched a plot to kill his estranged wife, Jessica. In their first attempt, police say the women paid $1100 to David Clark to complete the job. He broke into the house while Jessica and her three young children were sleeping, but had a change of heart and left with just her purse.

Big Bob Bashara Takes a Fall: Pleads Guilty to Hiring a Hitman to Kill Gentz

October 11th, 2012, 1:36 PM

Big Bob Bashara, who became a household name in Metro Detroit, pleaded guilty today to hiring a hitman to kill his wife's suspected killer Joseph Gentz...

...

Authorities had theorized that Bashara had tried to put out the hit so that Gentz could not testify against him in the death of his wife Jane...

...

The Freep reported that Bashara is slated to be sentenced Nov. 20. The paper reported that the prosecutors will push for a sentence between 81 to 135 months in prison, while Bashara's attorney Mark Kriger says it should be more like 51 to 85 months.

The judge will ultimately decide.

Busted: Bob Bashara's Ex-Attorney Is Found in Civil Contempt

October 13th, 2012, 8:54 AM

David Griem, a high profile attorney, was found in civil contempt of court on Friday.

The Detroit Free Press reports that Griem, the former attorney for Bob Bashara, was accused of improperly sharing evidence with Bashara's family and issuing unauthorized subpoenas.

Griem (pictured here) entered a plea of civil contempt on Friday in 36th District Court before Chief Judge Kenneth King. Up until then, he had faced the possibility of criminal contempt. Grim is slated to return to court Nov. 26 when a judge could impose a fine.

Griem pleaded responsible to civil contempt, avoiding being held in criminal contempt.

Bashara, with another attorney, just pleaded guilty to hiring a hitman to try and kill Joseph Gentz. Gentz has confessed to killing Bashara's wife Jane at the request of Bashara.

Bashara has been a person of interest in the murder, but has yet to be charged.

Griem is due back in court Nov. 26 for a sanction hearing, where he could be subject to fines.

Neither Griem's attorneys nor an assistant Wayne County prosecutor would comment after the hearing...

Wife Faces Husband in Court for Alleged Murder-for-Hire Plot

owens_120912_wg.jpg

ABC News(NEW YORK) -- One month after being shot in her driveway, allegedly by a hitman hired by her husband, a Texas woman appeared in court to face her estranged husband.

Nancy Howard walked into a Denton, Texas, courtroom Tuesday to move forward with her request for a divorce from her husband, John Howard.

Prosecutors say John Howard, a successful accountant who sang in a church choir, had a secret life and paid a series of alleged hitmen over $100,000 to kill his wife so he could be with his mistress in California. Nancy Howard was shot in the driveway of her Carrollton, Texas, home on August 18.

The mother of three was in a coma for days after the bullet destroyed her left eye and lodged in her lung.

"I prayed through the whole incident and called on God to save me, and he did. He carried me through," Nancy Howard told ABC News affiliate WFAA Tuesday as she walked into court.

John Howard admits to the affair that lasted four years, but denies having anything to do in his wife's shooting and has pleaded not guilty to criminal solicitation.

John Howard's attorney, Arch McColl, told ABC News that Nancy Howard really doesn't want a divorce...

Bashara's ex-handyman expected in court on murder charges

By Christine Ferretti and George Hunter
The Detroit News

Detroit — The former handyman of Robert Bashara is due in court Tuesday for a formal arraignment on murder and conspiracy charges in the January killing of Bashara's wife, Jane.

Joseph Gentz of St. Clair Shores is expected to appear before Wayne Circuit Judge Vonda R. Evans. He was ordered to stand trial earlier this month after waiving his right to a preliminary examination in 36th District Court in Detroit.

Gentz is accused of strangling Jane Bashara in the garage of her Grosse Pointe Park home on Jan. 24. The 56-year-old marketing executive's body was found the next day inside her SUV in a Detroit alley.

The conspiracy charges mean prosecutors believe Gentz didn't act alone in the slaying.

The developmentally delayed Gentz has claimed that Robert Bashara paid him to kill Jane and two separate mental evaluations have deemed him competent for trial.

In court filings, Assistant Wayne County Prosecutor Lisa Lindsey has called Robert Bashara a "suspect" in his wife's murder, although he has not been charged.

Lindsey suggested during a June hearing that prosecutors and Gentz's attorney, Susan Reed, would work on a plea deal, although Reed recently said no discussions had taken place yet.
