Therese Giffin, AKA "Obedient Slave" resumes her testimony
Giffin spoke with Rachel Gillett about making Jane look bad on the Hinky Meter
She set up a fictitious screen name on the Hinky Meter: "Across The Lake"
In a letter to Rachel, Giffin wrote: “Hey I could say Jane had a boyfriend and when she wouldn't leave Bob for him, he’d kill her."
IM exchange” Giffin: “They charged Gentz with conspiracy. I worry for you.” Bob: “Really? Well then I guess I’m next."
In an IM, Giffin told Bob to stay away from Rachel after the killing. Bob wrote back: “I know, what can I say? I’m stupid.”
Bob on chat: "Why am I like this? I feel terrible that this has hurt her so." Her being Rachel.
Lisa Lindsay: "He's talking about how he cared for Rachel, but you had to remind him that he cared for his wife."
That was objected to by defense.
Bob: "The relationships were totally different."
Bob on IM: "I may need you here...especially in court if we get to that." Giffin: "In your big bear heart, you can care for me."
Bob: "Share my thoughts with (Rachel). Let her know I miss her." This was after Rachel said she didn't want Bob contacting her.
Bob on Rachel: "One does not just turn it off. Considering her and I have done nothing wrong, this whole thing sucks.”
Bob wrote in IM to Giffin that Rachel told him to leave her alone, and that he told her "please don't do the PPO."
Bob didn't leave Rachel alone, even after she got a PPO, according to Giffin
Bob on Rachel: “Why is it that I cannot get her out of my head? Like you said, she is not a beauty queen but to me something special.”
According to IMs, Bob continued pestering Giffin to contact Rachel. At one point, she writes that he's "obsessed."
When Giffin talked to Bob about being obsessed with Rachel, "he agreed."
According to LinkedIn, Therese Giffin was a Chicago police field training officer from 1986-97. Current job: Children's tennis instructor
From her LinkedIn profile: "Seasonal position teaching children tennis in a camp style atmosphere." This is for the Chicago Park District
Bob in a message to Giffin: “(Rachel) likes to relay songs to life. Give her the song, ‘Stand by Your Man,’ and tell her it’s from me.”
Giffin says Bob told her he went through Rachel's trash, and put a cross in her mailbox.
Bob called Giffin from jail and asked her to contract Rachel after PPO was filed.
Judge: "Didn't you know those calls were tape-recorded?"
Bob in a jailhouse phone call to Giffin: “I want you to give you-know-who hell. Her attorney is coming out and saying she’s in hiding."
Bob: "That's ridiculous. I'm the nicest guy in the world." Giffin sounded like she was about to cry during the phone call.
Bob wanted Giffin to call Rachel and "really let her have it" because she said she was fearful of him.
Bob, during another phone call: “I don’t know what’s happening to me. I didn’t expect this.”
Giffin: “He was talking about laying into her for turning on him, and not standing by his side.”
Judge: "What was your role, period in this situation? You were not the defendant's main slave? Were you in a position to control (Rachel)?"
Giffin: "No, we were just friends."
Giffin: "Rachel and I when it comes to slaves had different philosophies. Mine was that you always obey your master." Rachel didn't agree.
Bob's jailhouse phone calls are being played in which Bob tells Giffin to send "blistering" emails to Rachel for daring to turn on him.
Bob on Rachel: "She doesn't care. I've lost everything." Giffin: "I don't think she ever did care. It was monetary." Bob: "Tell her that."
Bob: "If you come over here and we work something out, I'll give you that Cadillac." Sounds like the same Cadillac Bob promised Gentz.
Judge: "How did you feel that you were taking this man's calls...and he wanted you to contact her?" Giffin: "It didn't bother me."
Judge: "Then why are you calling her '*****es' and all that?' Giffin: "Because she didn't stand by him. Bob and I were just good friends."
Giffin: “You’ll never guess who I got a phone call from, and who wants to question me more? The Wayne County prosecution.”
Bob then warned her everything they say is being recorded.
Bob: “I need to say something for you and for anyone listening. You have been a dear friend for 3 years."
Bob: "I'm going to come through all this. I'm not guilty of whatever transpired."
Judge asked why Giffin was playing along with Bob on the jailhouse phone. "Because we were good friends."
Looks like they'll have to bring this witness back tomorrow, if the judge is to adhere to her schedule of ending today at 4 p.m.
Done for the day. Giffin will return to the stand tomorrow morning.
Bob tried to hang around while Giffin left the witness stand.
A deputy said, in a firm voice: "Come on, Bob!"
Judge told Giffin: "You're going to have to wait on that plane."
Giffin was crying as she walked out of the room......
