For those who are local, WDIV, Channel 4 (www.clickondetroit.com) will air a special tonight at 8:00 (EST) on the Bashara case. Video will likely be available later for those who are unable to watch. I'm not sure whether or not the program will be live streamed.

http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/watch-live-verdict-in-bob-bashara-murder-trial/30299960 has video.... is working, thanks! This judge is such a hoot! "Where is Mr. Bashara"... and joking and laughing.

Darkman, I was thinking of Bravo sorry.

BTW.. Bat alert for BRAVO!!!!!

Hey ATL your so sweet to think of me. Anytime you want a verdict I will let you know when I am out of town. Then there will be a verdict LOL. I got home shortly after 4 and a Gal Pal called to give me the heads up. I watched the 5:00 news to actually see it after checking George's tweets to confirm it was GUILTY on all counts. I didn't leave until 11 this a.m. and followed tweets until. I figured by the Juror questions they were good with the other Counts but needed some time on the Murder 1. Thankfully they got it right!!!!

And now my thoughts are on Jane's children. May they find peace in their hearts and have blessed lives. :grouphug:

This must be so difficult for the children. I hope they have some guidance in dealing with this. So sad. They lost both of their parents. My heart goes out to them.
I'm thinking of the mother of BB too, as it must be painful for her too to know and realize what her son has done to Jane and all the other things he has done to so many others. All so senseless.

Thankfully the Jury was able to reach the right verdict despite all the delays and extra difficulties. Guilty on all counts. It couldn't be any better.
I did found it surprising to hear that they could not consult the transcripts to help them with their deliberations. I never heard something like this before. Although, it could be happening in other cases too, just haven't seen it in the ones I have been following until now.

Justice for Jane has come. Now we can look forward to the sentencing and can only hope that Judge V E will give BB the punishment he deserves.

With all these Counts and the Murder 1 alone BB will get life. IMO I don't think he will survive long. We know he is diabetic. Appears he has some health issues and they may be related to the diabetes. Just a guess. When I saw him in Court he looked like hell. Seeing him on the news today since this last health issue he really really looks like hell. Well we all know what they say about karma. Bob is a far cry from Prelim. with Judge K. King reading him the riot act for licking his lips and touching his heart when Rachel was on the stand. Appears the cocky attitude is squashed. I'm sooooo grateful to these Jurors.

It's been a long haul since this case began. I think back to Bashara's original lawyer, David Grimm and wonder what the trial would have looked like if he had continued. Same for his second attorney. I'm glad he ended up indigent and had the best lawyers on his case. They worked very hard for him.

Guilt will out, and Bob did it all by himself.

I wish I could have been here to share the verdict with you, but, it's Christmas baking time. I'd rather be baking a huge batch of goodies for friends and neighbors...

Thanks, Darkman, for being on the case for us.

The Channel 4 (WDIV) special is worthwhile. Definitely a must-see for anyone who followed this case. http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/local-4-defenders-special-bob-bashara-the-verdict/30308130

It was mentioned upthread that the jury struggled with the Murder 1 charge. I'm not surprised and said earlier in the discussion that this charge was the only one that I would have to consider very carefully. I wouldn't have batted an eyelash at the other four charges and would have also said "guilty" immediately to the subornation of perjury charge that was dismissed. Has anyone found the jury instructions from Judge Evans? I'd like to know exactly how the Murder 1 charge was approached with the knowledge that Joe Gentz was the actual perpetrator and is serving prison time for same.

Bashara guilty: 'May Jane now truly rest in peace'

George Hunter, The Detroit News 9:22 p.m. EST December 18, 2014

Detroit — Robert Bashara slumped and shook his head as the jury foreman read aloud the verdicts that will keep the former Grosse Pointe Park businessman behind bars for the rest of his life.

Guilty on all five charges, including first-degree murder, in the murder-for-hire slaying of his wife, Jane.

The former Rotary club president was tight-lipped as a deputy led him out of Wayne Circuit Judge Vonda Evans' eighth-floor courtroom, bringing an end to the trial that featured nine weeks of often salacious testimony, 74 witnesses and 460 exhibits.

Bashara's somber courtroom demeanor was in stark contrast to the reaction of Jane Bashara's aunt, Barbara Naeyaert, who said via telephone after the hearing: "There is a Santa Claus. This is the best news I could have gotten today."

Added Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy in a written statement: "May Jane now truly rest in peace." ...

I agree, and DH and I discussed this last night as we watched the WDIV special. Bob is not a well man, and I'm sure that the verdict will take a toll on his already vulnerable constitution. We wondered if BB would even be well enough to attend the sentencing next month. I suspect we might hear that he's hospitalized again before January 15. While I'm pleased with the guilty-on-all-counts verdict, I can't help feeling a wee bit sorry for the man. :moo:

I've followed this case from the very beginning. I am truly pleased BB was found guilty on all charges.

Finally, justice for Jane Bashara.

I hope BB receives excellent medical care from the MI prison system. I hope he lives well into his 90's. He is such a high profile inmate that he will probably be in protective custody/ isolation for a few years, anyway. I'm glad of that, too. He will probably end up in a prison health care nursing unit eventually. It's a little cushier there than GP or isolation. More pillows and blankets, etc.

I remember that he was disciplined in jail for hoarding ketchup packets, sugar, or something similar. Where he's going, I doubt he will have access to ketchup packets. I'm fine with that. Give him a prison medical diet. Bland and tasteless.

And I hope his kids don't give him any commissary money. Let him suffer with indigent supplies and no snacks.

His elderly mother, Nancy, will probably be his only visitor, if she can travel to wherever he is housed. He will almost certainly not be able to attend her eventual funeral. Nancy will probably give him commissary money. But I hope she doesn't.

He deserves life in prison. I'm just glad the jury got it right. I have not one iota of sympathy for him. I reserve my sympathy for his kids, and Jane's family.

You are right on the money, KZ - couldn't agree with you more. I've not one iota of sympathy for the man, either.

I'm not sure Bob's Mom will visit. Seems she has washed her hands of him. She testified and spoke highly of Jane and that they were close. Then again he is her Son. I always wondered if there was prior enabling. IMO. His Children def. have washed their hands of him.

I have been exchanging emails with 2 of the freep/live bloggers. One from Michigan has emailed reporters/news to ask if the Blog and well kinda plead that the Interactive blog be opened for sentencing. It wasn't as interactive last bit of Trial as Gina was on Vaycay. I'll keep ya posted. Hopefullt Gina is back by then and we do have one last round for those who used it.
