Lorraine is 82 and seems to be having trouble understanding some of what the prosecution is asking.
Bob apologized for saying those things about the open marriage - he said his lawyer told him to say those things

Showing clip from Dateline where he first tells a local reporter that he was not having an affair - two months later in the Dateline interview he says
he had a relationship with one other woman - Rachel.

Lorraine says she asked him about Venita Porter (remember this is the woman who brought him a shirt and pants one Christmas) They all went to
the same church and Lorraine had heard rumors about the two of them. Bob denied having a relationship with Venita. Lorraine asked him about the alternative lifestyle - about having slaves. Lorraine said - when Jane said he could go out and do whatever he wanted - Lorraine said oh so she allowed slaves and dungeons - Bob said - she didn't know anything about that.

Pros has no more questions for this witness.

During the time that Lorraine babysat Bashara was a salesman for United Labs - he was on the road selling chemicals.
Lorraine said if Bob wanted slaves he had one - referring to how much work Jane always did

Regarding the ring - Julie had thought maybe it was on Jane's finger when she was murdered. They were having that conversation
when Bob left the room and found the ring

Bob was crying when she first spoke with him and he said he didn't know what happened to her daughter
Lorraine had never heard him cry before

Lorraine never had any hint that there had been trouble in Jane's marriage.
Bob always smiled - but he was somber on Dateline

McCarthy is done questioning Jane's mother.

I don't know why he wanted a slave - he had one in Jane - she worked and made all the money
Lorraine never doubted Bob was also working and caring for the kids

Monday, October 27, 2014, seventh day of testimony. Three people testified ~

First up, 22nd witness, Edward Fahner, a long-time employee at Steve's Furniture and Appliances in Detroit.

Second up, 23rd witness, Steven Tibaudo, featuring Mr. Doodles, also known as Scrappy Do, the Rat Terrier.
ST is the owner of Steve's Furniture and Appliances since 1996.
He will return for further questioning on Wednesday after audio evidence is sorted out by the lawyers.

(At this point, a Mr. Lee approached the stand. The hand sanitizer he used smelled like alcohol so the Judge dismissed him. ??? He did not take the stand today.)

Third up, 24th witness overall, Lorraine Engelbrecht, Jane's mother.

What a circus today! With the alcohol/hand-sanitizer issue, calling jurors in and out of court and the ridiculously boring taping of
Tibaudo and his gallbladder - we sure didn't get far today. Judge wants this trial to 'move along' but I feel like she is holding things up.
I sure wish I could call a 'full day of work' approximately 4.5 hours with an hour for lunch. At this rate, we'll be here till Christmas! :banghead:
