Wednesday,
November 19, 2014, the nineteenth day of testimony. Three witnesses, bb's family members.
First, the 51st witness,
Gwendolyn Samuel, bb's aunt and godmother.
Gwen's brother, bb's father, was a lawyer and judge.
bb's mother and father divorced, his father remarried, Suzanne. Nancy, bb's mother, never remarried.
Gwen put in writing that Nancy should receive $50,000 after the Bashara house sold.
Nancy received $10,000 (from Rick, POA)
In 2013, bb owed Nancy more than $220,000.
Nancy paid for the children's college education.
Second, the 52nd witness,
Nancy Bashara, bb's mother.
She was granted immunity for explaining how she ended up with bb's gun in her safety deposit box.
bb gave the gun to her, along with jewelry, coins, and other items, for safe keeping.
She placed all of the items in the safety deposit box on March 5, 2012.
Nancy was unaware that bb owned a gun.
She did not know a gun was among the other valuables given to her by bb, when she placed them into the safety deposit box.
bb was arrested on June 25, 2012.
Nancy discovered the gun in the safety deposit box in July of 2012. She contacted her daughter, Laura.
They contacted Griem, bb's lawyer at the time. Griem took possession of the gun.
There is a news clip, dated May 10, 2012, wherein bb claims he doesn't own a gun.
Nancy took her family, nine people, on vacation five times between 2000 and 2008, footing the bill.
She ran errands to help her children, walked their dog, helped with the children.
She allowed bb and Jane to use her credit card because their credit was bad.
Jane wrote her a check to cover their share when the bill came in.
Every year, as her own father did for her, Nancy gifted each of her children, their spouses, and her grands,
$10,000 tax free.
The gifts to her grandchildren were to go toward their college expenses.
Nancy had Promissory notes (signed by bb) in the amounts of:
$74,000 - $146,000 - $12,500 from 2011 (paid by Jane) - $25,000 - $23,000 - $22,000 (2010).
Nancy paid for Jane's funeral, $8,000 for church and food, plus other bills that arrived later.
Nancy considered Jane a dear friend -
"I miss her so."
Third, the 53rd witness overall,
Stephanie Samuel, bb is her first cousin - like a brother.
SS tells they were a close-knit family and "there were no secrets".
She holds back tears as she explains she was close to Jane.
bb used her phone, several times, to contact Janet Leehmann in Oregon.
She went to the bank when the gun was discovered - all three, Nancy, Laura and her, saw the gun.
She found ammunition among some tools at bb's house.
Somehow the ammunition ended up crossing the border into Canada where she lives.
Today, Lillian Diallo was absent a second day.

Next week, the seventh week of trial, court will be held only two days, on Monday and Tuesday.
After Tuesday, court will resume on Monday, December 1, 2014.
