The Grand Haven Department of Public Safety is asking for help in finding a missing resident.

Jeff Scarbrough, 29, was last seen around 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon golfing with a couple coworkers at Chase Hammond Golf Course in Muskegon County. He drives a white 2003 Honda Pilot.

Police say Scarbrough told people he was going to Fruitport to pick up his son from a family member’s home, but never showed up.

Scarbrough’s father said his son’s disappearance is out-of-character.

“He doesn’t have any mental issues or any, he don’t never disappear,” said Roy Scarbrough. “He’s very reliable and any time there’s anything that bothers him, I’m the first one to get the call.”

Family and friends have created a Facebook group trying to assist in finding Scarbrough and have organized search parties.

Jeff Scarbrough’s body was found in his vehicle near a public boat launch on Creston Road in Muskegon Township.

Grand Haven Department of Public Safety captain Clinton Hold said the incident couldhave been an accident.

‘Obviously, we feel for them, we’re fathers as well,’ he said. ‘We can’t imagine losing one of our own that way, and our condolences go out to the family.’

Authorities said around 10 vehicles have gone into the water near where Scarbrough’s was found over last few years.

The 29-year-old had been missing since Saturday afternoon when he went golfing at Chase Hammond Golf Course in Muskegon County, a few miles from where his body was found. He left the course to pick up his son, but never showed up.

“MUSKEGON, Mich. — Crews recovered the body of a missing Grand Haven man and a white Honda Pilot from the Muskegon River Tuesday evening.

Police confirmed that Jeffrey Scarbrough's body was found in the river near the Creston Road Public Boat Launch. The 29-year-old had been missing since Saturday with search efforts intensifying on Monday.

A resident who lives near the boat launch heard about the search and checked their surveillance footage. They saw video of the Honda Pilot driving toward the boat launch, but not coming back. The resident tipped off police with this information by calling Silent Observer.
