I agree. LE spend a good part of yesterday out ruling the four men who are probably closest to her. That took time but they always investigate in that order - people closest first. In the meantime, the perp could be six states away or in another country.

yep, it's usually someone related in some way to the victim that are the perps, not always though.

I believe it may be a local but not someone who stopped at that store like a regular customer.

or it could be a regular customer etc.

Well, if someone like that lives in the area, LE may suspect a specific person. If a man is 30 to 40 years of age with broad shoulders, :scared:, this isn't his first rodeo.

Did the observer call 911? She said she witnessed a struggle. Or did she come forward after hearing the news?

I'm pretty sure they came forward, since they have a good timeline, vehicle and perp description.

And yes LE responded within 20 mins, so I'm sure 911 was called.

Is it a 48 hour window or a 24 hours window that a missing person needs to be found?

This is so very scary. Just awful.

I was thinking about her sons' dad....does anyone know if he is in their lives or is her fiance the baby daddy?

The fiance is the father of Jessica's son and from what his mother posted in the comments section of a news article, He is pretty torn up about the whole thing.

And thier son is in his care.

They've determined it's a stolen car? Maybe? But don't know the identity of the person who stole it so they're looking for the car. No license plate number though, right?

Like the white vans from other cases, silver/gray vans are a dime a dozen. Ugh!

Yes.... ANOTHER white/gray/silver van... :waiting:

I wonder what the reason for that could be. Makes little sense. Ideas?

I am just guessing...

but maybe the composite sketch needs a few more specific details...

maybe it looks too vague now... And citizens will be jumping on every Tom,Dick, and Harry?

Just some thoughts...

Hey ya'll, I'm going to go ahead and close the one that I started. I've been holding out all day because I received an email early on when I started it from a local who asked me to join as an admin because she lives there and could spread the word quickly..

I responded to her and was waiting to add her but never heard back from her, so maybe she started this one. Either way, it's ok as this one has more likes so it makes sense to not confuse anyone. Just wanted to let those here who took the time to stop by :)

Hoping for good news!

Oh yes, good point, LE responded to the open convenient store due to a good samaritan's concern that it was open yet no attendant was in sight. That makes this case different from cases where someone's daughter/wife doesn't return home from work (hours lost there). LE couldn't find Jessica anywhere nearby and, based on her purse left/found on the counter, suspected foul play almost immediately.

Still, they had little to go on until when? This thread was started at 2:50 p.m. yesterday. When did LE hear about the van/guy? What time?

I do not know the time, nor the particulars...

But people on Facebook were giving some of this information pretty soon...

I was impressed with the public's coming to,attention soon!

The second highway, I96, is right above the top of the map, crossing 31. If you took it West it turns into Seaway drive, which has a lot of stores, stop lights and built up areas. If you went east on it, however, there is a lot of nothing. Along 31, both north and south, it is limited access highway and 70 mph. Both directions are fairly built up. If you went south on 31 about 10 min ( or less ) is Grand Haven and there are a lot of stops as you go thru town before it opens up again... So if you had someone hostage in a car, the direction least likely to attract attention would be East on 96...
West would also dead end in Lake Michigan.

Is the guitar place in The Pointes Shopping Center?

Yes. The Exxon station sits in front of, and slightly to the East of the shopping center but they share the street access into both parking lots.

Now, the Anton guy is inserting himself into the case, offering $500 reward, yet didn't even know her name. Is that normal? I mean, to speak out publically about it?
