This is so very scary. Just awful.

I was thinking about her sons' dad....does anyone know if he is in their lives or is her fiance the baby daddy?

The fiance is the father of Jessica's son and from what his mother posted in the comments section of a news article, He is pretty torn up about the whole thing.

And thier son is in his care.

Thank you iluvmua, I have been trying to catch up on all the pages and FB and missed that part.

Is it a 48 hour window or a 24 hours window that a missing person needs to be found?

ASAP after any person is forced into any vehicle. The recommendation is to fight with all your might at the abduction site. That is, never end up in the abductor's vehicle. Putting a time on it doesn't mean too much imo. The sooner the better.

Or to take the trash out at the end of her shift.

SBM
This was one of my first thoughts as well. She was closing up, cleaning, doing her night time routine. It's possible she went out back to dump dirty mop water, take out trash, even lock up the back doors?

Oh, and she was just about to get off work on a Friday night.

Mind mind goes to the darkest place I guess.
I sense they have an idea who the person is - a regular. Yet the mom says that Jessica never said she was bothered by anyone.
Going to the back of the place (you'd see a car there before you were within reach) indicates that no one else would be observant.
If trash, why not wait until vehicle was gone?
I just got a different vibe after reading the latest article.
Has LE released the sketch?

As far as I know, they haven't released it yet. They "don't feel confident" whatever that means.

I would like to know more about the off-duty employee who was driving by and said she pulled into the guitar store parking lot to watch because something at the gas station looked off? But she didn't check it out? I don't understand that whole scenerio or I missed something. I wonder if the sketch comes from her and the police are doubting this story a little. Just guessing on my part.

Mop water is a possibility. We were never allowed to dump mop water down the sink at the store I used to work at, and had to dump it down a drain outside the back door. We would prop the back door open, walk 6 or 8 steps to the drain. Something like that is a perfect opportunity for someone to surprise and overpower an employee. It's dark and the vehicle could have been parked on the side of the station instead of right in the back.

Also someone said - but I missed the source - that the FBI is involved.
They don't get involved in adult abductions for no reason.

The FBI is why I am wondering if they are possibly linking this to other recent cases. It feels local to me, but who knows. The scariest thing is that it really could be anybody, from anywhere. Where do you even begin to look?

The second highway, I96, is right above the top of the map, crossing 31. If you took it West it turns into Seaway drive, which has a lot of stores, stop lights and built up areas. If you went east on it, however, there is a lot of nothing. Along 31, both north and south, it is limited access highway and 70 mph. Both directions are fairly built up. If you went south on 31 about 10 min ( or less ) is Grand Haven and there are a lot of stops as you go thru town before it opens up again... So if you had someone hostage in a car, the direction least likely to attract attention would be East on 96...
West would also dead end in Lake Michigan.

This is the bigger picture:

I'm hoping that the delay in the presser is only so they can provide us with as much info as possible, that they are maximizing their time today on the clock (I think they really are investigating this case seriously) and not holding off in order to talk to / notify family first (horrible thought, sorry).

Thank you Otto for the images!!!

I complete missed the Meijer Pharmacy link. Will someone please fill me in on this?

Such pretty eyes - the bluest of blue. I'm praying so hard for Jessica.
This is again so terrible.

Authorities haven't given any indication who they think the perp is. Local versus non local.

I used to assume it was someone related to the person due to statistics. Not any more, as three times I've been wrong. Little Jessica Ridgeway, the woman in Oregon (the neighbor killed her - so, somewhat related) and Mickey Shunick. Now, I'm noticing what seem to be stranger abductions. So many of the missing women haven't been found todate.

Quoting myself here. In the three examples I gave though, the perps were local men (just not family members). LE was able to make an arrest in those cases but they were not solved overnight. None of the victims were involved in wrongdoing.

I used WS search and cannot find anything about the Meijer Pharmacy associated with Jessica's possible abduction. Perhaps it was in an article or link that I did not read.

Hope someone will help with that.

Hopefully they are searching this Roosevelt Park area:

http://www.nortonshores.org/index.asp?Type=B_BASIC&SEC=%7B91A7189F-480D-451C-A0F8-617159BA146D%7D

Appears to be some lakes as well...

That link is for Norton Shores. Roosevelt Park is a one-square mile little city that borders Norton Shores. We are all within a stone's throw of SOME lake around here and right by Lake Michigan. Roosevelt Park has nothing, as far as I know, to do with this. The Exxon station is in Norton Shores. You can see the Muskegon County airport from there, if that helps at all.

I haven't heard of anyone searching anywhere as of yet.

Thank you. I saw Roosevelt Park on Otto's map and noticed its proximity...didn't realize it was a city, lol. Got mixed up with the park link, thanks for the clarification!
