So scary. If she did leave the building to step outside I bet it was a very frequent customer that she probably thought they were friends, but this person has a darker side. Working at the bank I trusted many customers and would never think twice about them wanting to hurt me. I have thought about getting a late shift at a store/gas station before but been to freaked out to close and walk out alone. I hope she is found safe.

here it is:
Katie Poirier's murder

he was transfered to a min security prison/camp/medical center but I think they moved him back to max sec.

"On 26 May 1999, 19-year old Katie Poirier went missing from the D. J.'s Expressway Conoco convenience store in Moose Lake, Minnesota, where she used to work as a night clerk. A passer-by, who noticed that there was no attendant present in the store, reported the odd incident. A grainy black-and-white surveillance video showed Katie being forced out of the store around 11:40 pm, by a man wearing jeans, a backwards baseball cap and a New York Yankees baseball jersey with the number 23 on the back. The man's hand was at the back of her neck, and from the way she touched her throat, there might have been a cord tied around her neck.[4]

The police estimated that the abductor was 5'10" and weighed around 170. He had long light-colored hair, and appeared to be around 25 years old. The witnesses reported that they had seen a black pick-up truck near the convenience store that evening. One of the witnesses gave a partial license plate number (three numbers and a letter).[4]

A composite sketch of the abductor, based on statements of four witnesses, was broadcasted on the local media.
Blom's arrest

Donald Blom was checked soon after Katie's disappearance, since he had a pickup truck registered to his name, with a license plate number matching the partial number provided by the witness. But this vehicle was white-colored.[4]

Blom had been working at the Minnesota Veteran's Home under the name "Donald Hutchinson" prior to Katie's death. On June 18, his former co-worker Darrel Brown, called the police tip line. He stated that Donald Hutchison looked similar to the man in the composite sketch provided by the police. He had been absent on the day following Katie's disappearance. He had recently cut his hair, and had stopped driving his black pick-up truck. Shortly after that, he had suddenly quit his job as the janitor without any notice.[4]

Interesting that Donald Blom was called in because he had changed his looks and habits...

cut hair
stopped driving the truck
quit his janitor job...

I hope people are looking for these things from people surrounding them for clues to Jessica's perp!

:please:

Two thoughts just popped in my mind...

I wonder if the witness(ES) who saw the gray/silver van noticed any distinguishing stickers on the vehicle... Stickers associated with any clubs/athletics/etc... (Like family sports, veteran, etc.)

I wonder if there are any rental storage units in a close radius.... and if activity was checked on the prior days or after....

(sometimes there are rental storage facilities in industrial areas as pointed out by a local in above posts)

Just some thoughts...

ok, i woke up in the middle of the night and all i could think about was how she got in that van. i dont see her just getting shoved in there and him closing the door, getting in, and driving off. she would have to be tied down or something. i highly doubt he'd have her just in the back, free to do what she wanted. even if he had the child locks set so she couldn't open any doors, she would still be able to try and over take him or something while he was driving. so, what could he have done to her so quickly before getting her in the van?

also - i wonder if there's a possibility that the van could have been a Dodge Caravan? the caravan and town and country look VERY similar:

i hope LE is checking both makes/models out.

there are so many conflicting stories out there by "witnesses"... some say she was seen walking outside with the man, some say she wasn't. etc.

i just had a thought.. MAYBE he pulled up to the pump, lured JH out to his car (problem with the pump, trying to run his card, etc), then when he drove around the back of the building he secured her better so she couldn't be free in the back? most mini-vans i've seen have tinted windows in the rear. if this van did, it would be very hard to see inside, especially at night... if she tried to draw attention to herself, it probably would have been futile. :(

Police interviewed four people who know her, but ruled them out. They now have one suspect but haven't released a sketch yet.

The driver is described as a white male, approximately 30-40 years old, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a bright red or orange sweatshirt.

There is nothing new in this article but for goodness sakes-I'm in the sunny south but how many men own red or orange sweatshirts and wear them? I think the witness would have been able to describe a "hunting orange" jacket, or the "reflective orange" of a construction vest. Could it be a sports team shirt/jacket?

I think if the witness is correct and the man they are looking for is as described by LE, this man and his behavior should (praying) click with a wife, neighbor, relative, co-worker past or present AND QUICK. LE are asking for tips! Even the smallest tip may help save this girls life.

The LE need to be telling folks to be aware of changes in patterns and behaviors, changes to identity, routines, etc... of people close to them. I hope LE and her family have this plastered all over the area. Her family seems to be very proactive. Praying.

Maybe it's not good enough to release? If they are just going by what one person saw then they're not going to get any new details to add to it.

I hope something breaks in this case soon. My thoughts are with Jessica and her family.

I had a few thoughts, maybe LE feel Jessica is being held alive and do not want to spook him or maybe the sketch is not "strong" and they are hoping to get more detail.

I have not followed any cases where they release a sketch though. I would like to hear others comment on this who have.

"They (LE) have one suspect, but they haven't released a sketch yet."

this sounds to me like they may know the guy...

couldn't they just have the sketch artist sketch from a picture of him...?

sorry... I am hung up on this LE identifying a suspect.... Yet there is no sketch released to the public!

Now... After reading your post... That does make sense...

Maybe LE knows who the guy is... But doesn't want to spook him...

Still catching up here...but been perusing FB and found a guy with initials AV on the co-workers (SF) FB page that has some posts that are degrading to women. He also has brown hair and appears to be a large guy.
Just throwing it out there, not sure if it was already mentioned or if he even lives in the right area. But he gave me the heebie jeebies. JMO

A few years ago, DH and I had driven to that part of MI during the winter to see friends' daughter in a high school play. The trip there took us about three hours, and we knew that we'd be there until late. We hadn't planned to drive all the way home that night and stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Norton Shores that gave us an hour head start on the trip back home.

I recall that the area was very dark and desolate with little lighting except at major intersections. Even though we had a good map, we had difficulty finding the hotel and had to call to get specific directions.

I can't imagine a young woman being alone at a gas station at closing time even in a small resort community like Norton Shores. It's a bit early and still cold in Michigan for boating, camping, etc., so I doubt that there were tourists in the area at this time of year. My guess is that the perp is someone that Jessica knows. :moo:

Thoughts and prayers for Jessica's family and friends. I hope that she is located soon.

I had another thought on this but like I said I have not followed a case where LE released a sketch.

If LE release a sketch and it "is" someone local that they have in mind it could cause "tunnel vision" which at this time may only muddy the investigation.

I fear with so many rumors of this happening at other gas stations where girls report a man in a van sitting outside just watching them that police may be getting differing descriptions leaving "holes" in the the original witness description.
