I think they may be looking at one of the 2 vehicles that are on the freeway that go speeding by?

BBM

Yes. It's circled in red in the picture with this article. It's not the parked van.

The first link I clicked (and now I can't figure out which one that is) the article said that the timestamp on the video was NOT correct. The wording was emphatic on that point.

I doubt that is Jessica. The woman in the surveillance video has a shoulder bag. Reports indicate that Jessica's purse was found at the Exxon station.

This was nothing more than a simple case of confusion. The still image posted showed a silver vehicle in the parking lot. We were assuming that was the vehicle in question. And since it was parked, and there was a girl in the picture, that question was raised. However, we now know that the van passes by on the street and does not stop at the tavern.

I suppose the witness could have mistaken this suv for a minivan. Or this is just not the right vehicle.

Are there any other locals here besides misterGwriter and myself?

Im local... live in Grand Haven and work in Muskegon...

The store NOW has cameras. It's like closing the barn door after the horse escapes. No excuse to not have a camera since it appears they are saving money by making a lone female run the store at night. Shame on them. But more shame on the horrible man who decided to do something horrific. It makes me sick to think about this and I cannot imagine how frantic her family is!
It should be mandatory that C-Stores/ gas stations have 24-hour cameras that are routinely inspected. If the owner doesn't comply, the franchise license should be yanked. I don't buy anything at C-stores after daylight...way too creepy.
Has Exxon, Inc. released a statement? I'm praying Jessica and her loved ones.

It's actually not a freeway. The posted speed limit is 35 MPH I believe. The van does appear to be exceeding the speed limit.

Kind of an idiot to speed past a bar on a Friday night. Too bad he didn't get pulled over.

The vehicle parked in the lot is not the vehicle in question. They are looking at the blur of a vehicle that drives by late in the clip.

So that would mean that Jessica was possibly still in the parking lot when the 911 call was made. I wonder if the SUV pulled off after or during the phone call and the witness didn't think anything of it.

Yet, the caller told the 911 operator about the vehicles in the lot. One was Jessica's car. I'd hope if vehicle 2 left the scene almost simultaneously to the 911 call, LE would have tried to chase the vehicle down. That would be a terrible oversight if it was that close. Also Jessica would have had to be disabled in some way or she would have screamed. Unless he was in the back with her and when the guy was in the store, he took off and passed LE as they were approaching depending on which way - ugh! This is too much.

Maybe this is why we haven't heard much about the second vehicle.

Are people getting flyers up around Grand Haven?

I stopped at a convenience store on my way home and yes, there was one there, and I have friends in the area who got posters, so I am sure there are many more...

Larger pic of vehicle

The surveillance camera at the Old Homestead Tavern captured the gray or silver minivan headed north on Grand Haven Road away from the Exxon.

That video can be seen above. The minivan in question passes from the top left of the screen to the right at about time stamp 22:46:42. The time stamp on the video is not in sync with actual time, Norton Shores Police Chief Dan Shaw said in an email.

"We believe that this is the van that witnesses have described as being at the Exxon station at the time of Jessica’s abduction," Shaw wrote in the email.

Police would like to speak to the driver of the minivan, described as a heavy-set, white man between 30 and 40 years old, and having broad shoulders, and light brown, wavy hair parted in the middle and longer on top. He may have also been wearing a bright red or orange sweatshirt.

IMO that's a good enough shot for FBI to get the plate. I think there on it.

Yes I know FBI isn't the lead, but that doesn't mean they aren't available to assist.

I'm not so sure. I would agree with you if there was a plate on the front. However, Michigan does not require front plates and most vehicles do not have them. It doesn't appear like there is a plate on the front from the surveillance footage.

A. Just reiterating... that is NOT Jessica smoking by the bar.

B. They are looking at the van driving by, not parked.

I'm directionally challenged, can someone tell me is that van headed towards or away from the Exxon? I'm confused by the time stamp.

Praying hard for Jessica. Lord, let this one be a miracle.

There is a carwash next door to the Exxon station. I think he may have seen a car sitting in that lot, but on the side towards the gas station. Once again, I can't remember specifically where I saw this. I am trying to study for exams and keep up here too....impossible!

here's the screen shot i took from the video.

i'm trying to decide if that looks like damage to the passenger side, or if it's just shadows. if it's damage, it would definitely help in the search for this van!
