Found Deceased MI - John Steck, 88, New Haven Twp, 17 Feb 2022

NEW HAVEN TWP., MI--Michigan State Police are actively looking for an 88-year-old man in northern Shiawassee County.

John Steck left his home in the 6000 block of North Seymour Road in New Haven Township around noon Thursday, Feb. 17.

He was driving a gray 2009 Ford Focus with a Michigan license plate of DHR7075, according to a Michigan State Police news release.

Police described Steck as standing about 6 feet tall, weighing about 145 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a yellow University of Michigan shirt and a red jacket that has a logo of two dogs near the collar, police said.

Police have asked anyone with information on Steck’s whereabouts to call the Michigan State Police Flint Post at 810-732-1111 or Shiawassee County Dispatch at 989-743-9111.

I fear he may have gone off the road and they haven't been able to find his car. If this is what happened it's likely he could have frozen to death. 4-9 inches of snow was predicted for the day he went missing. Temps ranged from 17-42 that day. Found deceased.

His body was discovered about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, near the intersection of North Henderson Road and Friegel Road.

Police said it appears Steck’s vehicle got stuck in a farm field approximately six miles west of his home. His body was found a short distance from the vehicle.

No foul play is suspected, police said.
