Deceased/Not Found MI - Jozlynn Martinez, 2, Grand Rapids, 24 Feb 2010

I agree with all the ideas about sectioning off landfills/dump areas...

<sigh> this is so discouraging

Yes, leaving the kids with "sig other" is normal...BUT...in this case the sig other is an "ex" (ho ho) crack addict...who the mom had 2 restraining orders out on...he violated a restraining order before....and supposedly she was "fighting" with him about bruises on Jozlynn....but she went out anyhow and left the kids with him???

oh...puleeze

IMHO we do need new laws....there are so many sweet children to name this law after I don't know what the name would be...but a law whereby there is a special type of child endangerment sentencing/rule when this sort of endangerment ends in death

Maybe that would make some of these "stand by your lousy man" moms think when they see others hauled off to prison for this sort of neglect

From mtroopers link above:

"The family is trying to get Jozlyn's pictured registered with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children."

Jozlynn is already on NCMEC. Is there something else they would be registering for that I'm not aware of?

The family seems to still be in denial that the baby is dead. They are upset that the Amber Alert was cancelled. I hope they find her body to put the family at rest as to what happened.

everytime I come to read more about this case it gets more confusing. I guess they are not (as always) telling us what they know. Maybe Police Know more about this then we do. They seem sure she is dead, otherwise they wouldn't of pulled the amber alert right?... hmm... I dont know. Something still doesn't seem right...

Was mom home all night? Or wasn't she? Grandmom says she was.. mom says she wasn't.(?)
Did mom put the baby to bed or not? She doesn't seem to even know.
Who went out the second story window? When? and WHY? .. and what room is that?
Did they know that trash was burned?... They must know if that area of it was by now.. there must be some kind of reports were are they?
Did the cadaver Dogs find anything at the house? Did they track the little girl at all?
Did anyone see the 'BF' with the girl? The neighbor saw people going out the window, did they Notice anything else?

I am with you Logical... if mom was fighting with BF about the bruses on the daughter then how come leave the daughter with him all night? Or was she there? i dont know this is all not adding up STILL...

and to further that... if she was worried the night before about bruses enough to 'ask him to leave, and start a 'argument'' about it then why was she feeling safe the next day with her running out with him.. ???

Hopefully they got more information then they are saying because right now... Its just NOT MAKE ANY SENSE...

ugh and still that little girl is somewhere.. but where?

Jozlynn Martinez's mother visits jail, says boyfriend refused to explain why he threw Grand Rapids girl's body in trash
By Kyla King The Grand Rapids Press
February 28, 2010, 6:30AM

Consuela Martinez went to the Kent County Jail on Saturday, looking for answers from her boyfriend — the man police say threw her 2-year-old daughter’s lifeless body into the trash.

She emerged from the jail visit 30 minutes later, crying and clearly frustrated by a fruitless meeting with Jeffrey Malmberg. He refused her pleas for new information about what had happened to Jozlynn Martinez, her brown-eyed daughter who had been missing since Tuesday morning.

“I can’t believe he would do something like this,” the sobbing 21-year-old said outside the jail’s visitor entrance. He told her nothing new, she said.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A man lodged at the Kent County jail in connection with 2-year-old Jozlynn Martinez's disappearance told the child's mother his version of what happened to the toddler.

Consuela Martinez, 21, sat down with boyfriend Jeffrey Malmberg on Saturday during his visitation hours to hear his side of the story.

Jozlynn fell down a set of stairs at the couple's Nagold Street home in Grand Rapids on Monday night and died, Malmberg told Martinez. He panicked and decided to dispose of the child's body in a nearby commercial Dumpster, he said.

"When he went in the bathroom, (Jozlynn) was sitting on the bed," Martinez said after talking to Malmberg. "When he got out of the bathroom, he heard a noise ... and went downstairs and found her laying there."

Malmberg said he was sorry, Martinez told 24 Hour News 8 on Sunday.

Yesterday I'd read a comment to one of the news articles that Malmberg had said Jozlynn had fallen down the stairs....I don't believe it still even tho that rumor is now official.....we've all heard the 'fell down the stairs' story before.

Maybe there's a hint of truth tho -- he threw her down the stairs.

I don't believe she fell, either. If she simply fell and was injured in a fall, why dispose of her body? Why not call an ambulance instead? He hurt that baby, there was no accident.

 • #192
Yes, he hurt that baby and if they find her, there will be evidence to prove it. If they don't, LE will be hard pressed to show that he hurt her.

Please let LE find this baby.

I hope they find her I really do. This is all so confusing. :(

Smells like a big pike of bull sh%t. Where was mom again when her 2 year old fell down the stairs? Drunk? Still not adding up for me. How could she have seen her in bed if she wasn't there? If she wasn't there then how was he able to take her $$ from her purse. Seems like the story has changed so many times that I can't even keep it straight anymore.

A fall down the stairs? Doubtful. We have all heard that story before - he hurt her. Otherwise he would have no problem getting calling 911 and getting her mother.

Did you all see the video?
http://www.woodtv.com/dpp/news/local...wn-stairs-died

There's a short clip of the mom. I know people react differently to tragedies like these, but she seems very unaffected by the news that her daughter fell down the stairs and died.
