@Richard When I saw your post in this thread today, the photo reminded me of a UID that I had recently come across. There is not much information, other than found in 1982 and had been there for more than 3 years. I read the news article from 2015 that mentioned Kathy might have received a ride with a trucker. Frederick, Maryland where she was discovered is right off the Interstate. Probably a long shot, but seems possible and hasn't been ruled out from what I can see.

No, and I see a resemblance. Kathy was also a runaway, which could explain the discrepancy in distance. Maybe she was on the way to a popular spot, like California? Age is off though.

The only thing is..Kathy had multiple leg fractures and broken toes. It most likely would be noted if the UID had broken bones since that's pretty significant. Worth a try though..hope you hear back soon!

It's quite possible she's still alive... she was already hanging out with older guys and was independent, so I wouldn't be surprised if she hitchhiked to another distant town and got a local job... moving frequently depending on the mood or if there was talk of a runaway... it seems she didn't like her stepfather very much, which can be a big source of anger for a teenage girl... but it's also possible she ran away and something bad happened to her as a result... I read that according to web detectives, the sister seems to be convinced that a man named Terry Scott McQueer murdered Kathy... he was one of the older men she associated with and abruptly moved to Colorado after her disappearance... I have no idea if the police investigated it, but I doubt it...
