Detroit police search for missing 5-year-old, seek person of interest

...Investigators said they are seeking a person of interest who was seen in the same area as Marcus.

"He's a black male, mid-30s, medium complexion with a goatee," Assistant Detroit Police Chief James White said. "He was wearing a black baseball cap, a black jacket, dark-colored jeans and Timberland boots."

White also said the man weighs about 200-225 pounds.

"We want to talk to him because he was seen in the area and we're getting information (Marcus) was somewhat enamored with (the man's) moped," the assistant chief told the media Friday. "(Marcus) was possibly sitting on the moped at one point." ...

Mine, too I don't think anyone in the house actually saw Marcus "playing video games upstairs" between 9:00 and 9:40PM as reported. The boy was obviously outside and unsupervised earlier in the evening and not at home where he should have been.

Thankfully, this missing child has been found and is safe.

"Just before 12:40 p.m. Friday, police said Marcus Pruitt was found safe at a home on 7 Mile Road. Details about his recovery weren't immediately released.

Pruitt was reported mising the night before from his home on St. Mary's Street, near 7 Mile Road and the Southfield Freeway. "

I'm not good at posting maps, but the location where Marcus was found is at least a couple of miles from his home on St. Mary's. Reports indicate that Marcus was found "at a home". Whose home? Someone known to Marcus and/or family members? How did he get to the house where he was located? I'm happy that the little boy was found and is safe, but there are a lot of unanswered questions about his disappearance overnight.

I heard update on WWJ radio in the car. Detroit Police continue to investigate Marcus' disappearance and obtained a search warrant for the home where the boy allegedly was overnight. WDIV report at 4:00 indicated the same thing, and I will post new video when it's available. Further updates on Channel 4 on news at 5:00 and 6:00PM.

You're welcome. I'm glad this missing child case had a positive outcome. I also want to acknowledge the fabulous job done by DPD in finding this boy. DPD frequently gets a bad rap, but the intense search for Marcus was exemplary. I hope the suspect turns himself in or is taken into custody tonight.

...White said Stevenson took Marcus front in front of his home without permission.

Authorities said Stevenson was riding a moped when he kidnapped Marcus. White asked Stevenson to turn himself in.

Police said this is still a very active and fluid investigation and they have a number of questions that are still unanswered...

Glad they got him, and considering this was an abduction I am doubly glad Marcus was recovered alive. It makes me shudder to think of what this guy wanted to do with a random child, and I hope nothing did happen to him while he was in this guy's presence.
