A Marine Corps recruiter broke into a Michigan home and stabbed an 11-year-old girl who was at a sleepover in a shocking crime that a judge called 'as horrific as it gets.'
On Saturday around 3am, a homeowner called 911 and said that Ricardo Perez Castillo, 24, was in his daughter's room with her friend who had just been attacked by the intruder, according to an affidavit.
The father initially found the knife-wielding maniac in the kitchen of his home in Plainfield Charter Township, about 28 minutes outside of Grand Rapids.

ROCKFORD, Mich. (WOOD) — A Rockford homeowner who found a man standing in his Oak Street kitchen over the weekend said the stranger warned him to “be careful” and “arm” himself.
It was the first of two home invasions that occurred early Saturday morning less than an hour and a mile apart.
Ricardo Perez Castillo, a 24-year-old Marine recruiter based in Grand Rapids, is charged in both incidents.

“I proceeded to ask him to leave,” he told News 8. “I walked towards him and didn’t make any physical contact with him. He left with no argument…”

“I asked him, ‘What’s going on?,’ and he said, ‘I don’t even (expletive) know what the (expletive) is going on, but just in case, just be careful. Make sure you’re armed.’ At that point I slammed the door shut and called police.”

Police said video surveillance showed Castillo entering the residence on Ella Terrace Court NE in Rockford where he stripped down to only his underwear and T-shirt. Castillo then grabbed a knife from a kitchen drawer and walked upstairs, the affidavit states.
He opened the door to the master bedroom and noticed a husband and wife asleep. Castillo shut the door and “went to look for an easier target,” the affidavit states. That lead Castillo to a room where the homeowner’s daughter and her friend were sleeping.
Castillo removed his underwear and started stabbing an 11-year-girl while on top of her. The girl’s screaming awoke the homeowner who called 911 and told dispatchers he was holding Castillo at gunpoint until police arrived. She was stabbed multiple times in her arm and shoulder, requiring surgery.

Castillo went on to tell deputies that his intention was to kill the entire family.
The defendant is currently being held without bond in the Kent County Jail.
