#Sturgis The Sturgis Police Department has requested Michigan’s AMBER Alert for three missing children abducted by their father, Fernando Mendoza Cruz (37). The children described as:

Matteo Nieves (4) wearing red shorts and a blue T-Shirt
Chelsey Lopez (5) wearing a pink T-shirt and blue pajama pants4
Aldo Cruz (2) wearing a blue T-Shirt and a diaper

They are believed to be traveling in a 2009 maroon Chevy Traverse with MI plate DWH9204-The following message went out to cell phones in the following counties: St. JOSEPH , Cass, Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Calhoun and Branch.

**UPDATE- We have received information that the Traverse in NOT Maroon, it's BLACK in color.

**UPDATE- Investigators believe CRUZ has crossed into INDIANA. Last known location was near Freemont, IN.

Indiana State Police say they pursued a vehicle on the Toll Road Thursday morning, which matched that description. However, the car in question was not captured.

Amber Alert issued for 3 children taken by their father, police say

The Sturgis Police Department says there was a domestic complaint where the father allegedly assaulted the mother of the children. After the incident, the mother allegedly went to a gas station to call 911.

Cruz is armed with a handgun reportedly threatened to harm himself and the kids - after having assaulted their mother. Police are considering him armed and dangerous.

The alert was canceled later Thursday morning after the group was found. Cruz was taken into custody. The children are safe, Michigan State Police said.

Thanks for finding the update. When they mentioned he was armed and had threatened the kids I was very concerned.
