WYOMING, MI -- Prosecutors have issued a warrant for murder against a Wyoming man after a woman was found dead in his apartment.

Yenly Garcia, 44, was previously described as a person-of-interest by police. His whereabouts are not known and police are asking for the public’s help to locate him.

Wyoming police believe he killed 33-year-old Mollie Schmidt, a mother of five. Her body was found in his Wyoming apartment when police executed a search warrant on Aug. 30. She had been shot...

Given that this case has become a murder investigation, I feel certain that there has been an autopsy. I'm still wondering when Mollie passed and how much of a head start YG had to get out of the area. Could he have fled to a remote property up north, i.e. a hunting cabin that is quite common in Michigan? Or did he go to Miami where he might have ties? If Mollie had been dead for 10 days before her body was found, YG had plenty of time to get out of Michigan. I trust that there is a widespread search for this guy and that he found sooner rather than later, arrested, and taken into custody.

I haven't seen any updates and assume that YG is still on the run I think he had several days of lead time to leave Michigan after he murdered Mollie. Hopefully, the cat and mouse game will end soon, and YG will be apprehended.

According to a probable cause affidavit, deputies got information for the phones of those involved. They learned that Schmidt had had contact with Garcia on Aug. 20 at 8:45 p.m. Her phone had pinged off a cell tower near his apartment around 10:20 p.m. and then powered off. His phone was off before she arrived.

On Aug. 21, Garcia’s phone was active near the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit before it was powered off, the affidavit said. Agents said he was by himself at the time. He was later seen heading southwest toward Texas but on Aug. 25 was seen on an ATM video attempting to use Schmidt’s debit card at her bank in the city of Wyoming, the document said. Police went on to say Garcia later attempted to use her debit card in southern Michigan before heading toward Texas.

Schmidt was dead by that time, the medical examiner said.
