[h=3]Details of Disappearance[/h] Mildred and her daughter, Patricia, were last seen in Garden City, Michigan on August 28, 1964. Mildred's husband of six years, Jesse Zentner Jr., said he had spanked Patricia and he and Mildred got into an argument about it, and when he came home later he found his wife and daughter gone.

Some personal items disappeared with them, including Patricia's potty's chair, but their clothing was left behind at home. Mildred reportedly left a typewritten note for Jesse, which he tore up.

Mildred and Patricia have never been heard from again. Two weeks after their disappearances, Jesse drove to Pennsylvania to ask his parents-in-law if they'd heard from either of them. Mildred's parents reported her and the child missing at that time.

The investigation into the Zentners' disappearances was reopened in 2004. Police excavated Mildred and Jesse's former home in the 1200 block of Deering, but didn't find any evidence. Jesse is now retired and lives in Florida.

Mildred's parents both died in the 1980s, but her sister is still alive and searching for her and Patricia. The circumstances of their disappearances are unclear.

There is a good write up of the 2004/5 reopening of the case at http://archive.cantonpl.org/observer/2005/06_Jun 2005/06-26-2005.pdf . Please be aware that the pdf is of the full edition of the paper so takes a few minutes to download. The article is on page 4. It seems pretty clear that the main investigator, having reinterviewed Jesse Zentner, believed he killed them. He seemed to do a pretty thorough job given the limitations of time and resource. Jesse Zentner died in 2007.

Circumstances of Disappearance
Mildred and her 28-month-old daughter, Patricia Louise Zentner, vanished on August 28, 1964. Mille's parents, William and Iris Stewart, were contacted by Jesse Zentner, Millie's husband, who had driven to Pennsylvania to ask his in-laws if they had heard from Millie and Patti Lou. The couple immediately drove to Garden City to file a missing person report on their daughter and granddaughter.

Police investigation determined that some personal items were missing (e.g. Patricia's potty chair), but all of the mother and daughter's clothing was still in their home. Mr. Zentner told investgators that he had returned home after an argument with Mildred over spanking their daughter. He found a typewritten note left by his wife, but he said he tore it up.

Garden City Police re-opened the investigation in 2004. The site of the Zetner's former home at 1214 Deering - now a vacant lot - was searched and excavated in 2006, but police found no trace of the missing mother and daughter.
