Police said their warrant request was based on an investigation that included the recovery of an extensive amount of evidence from the scene, consultation with representatives of the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office, and a forensic analysis of a portion of the trace evidence by the Forensic Science Division of the Michigan State Police.

“We had numerous hurdles to overcome for the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office,” said Capt. Bob Redmond.

“We painstakingly worked through all those items. By getting the warrant we have met the extremely high burden set for us (by the Prosecutor).

“We are confident that Mr. Mikes Sr. was killed by his son.”

Welcome to Websleuths, codysmom2. The only thing that I noticed in all of the photos/video is the small scab beside PM, Jr.'s left eye, but that looks more like a healing bite or zit than an injury. Hopefully, we'll learn more today following the arraignment.

ETA: Given the recent arrest and impending charges, I asked a moderator to change the thread to indicate that Patrick Mikes, Sr. is (likely) Deceased/Not Found.

On late news last night, it was mentioned that the grandparents who bailed Junior out of jail on the credit card charges have returned to Florida. I wonder how they feel after posting $50,000 bond given that Mikes, Jr. is now back in jail on a charge of open murder in the death of his father.

Since my initial posting regarding the character of PM Jr. I decided to remain silent and allow events to play out. In regards to the question posed to me about the impact the mother's passing had on the Mikes family, I cannot give a truthful observation as I didn't really get to know PMJ unitl after the fact.

That being said the following is speculation. PMJ was one of the most religious kids in my class. I feel that the loss of his mother led him to a very strong fortification of his faith. As i live in the area I would also see him at mass on Sundays. While I would be with my family, he would be accompanied by a girl and one of his best friends from UDJ. As I mentioned earlier he was a phenomenal student with a spotless behavioral record. He seemed like he came from a loving and supportive family. He was all around very well mannered and was easy to interact with. The only thing that I could see maybe changing about him after his mother's passing is the development of an introverted personality. It's not that he would not talk and ignore people but he would allow others to engage him first rather than seek them out for conversation.

The situation does indeed look grim for my former classmate and I along with many of the other guys from my grade will be following this intently. I would like to thank everyone on here for making the media alerts and events very easy to follow as this website provides a central location for the latest news on the case.

All this being said I do hope the body of PMSr is found soon and definitive answers are released. That being said I agree with OldKenTuck that the police and media have done a pretty good job of predetermining the public's mind as to a decision in this case. After all the first public photos of him were in shackles and a jumpsuit for a charge less than $30 on a credit card.

I hope whatever decision is reached is done so through the proper channels and that justice is delivered.

-Regards the Wiseman

You mentioned that Pat was an EME at his home parish. By any chance, is it STM?

I'm assuming they mean trunk:

“Saturday, during the day, we have about a three-hour time period that’s not really accounted for what he (Patrick Mikes Jr.) was doing,” said Redmond. “He left the home about 9 a.m., telling his brother he was going to look for his dad, and he disappeared … and when we then we can re-account for him was when the farmers described he was driving down their street here in Montrose.”

What got the farmers’ attention, said Redmond, was seeing an upscale car moving slowly down the road a number of times – a luxury car in an area most traveled by tractor and pickup truck.

Redmond said the Infinity I35, spotted by the farmer, was the same car in which police found Mikes’ blood in the truck.

I couldn't access livestream either directly on the WDIV homepage or via email link sent to me at 2:25. I'm assuming from the update that the arraignment was brief and has concluded.

Where was Patrick, Jr.'s brother during the times that their father allegedly left for a bike ride (Friday, 5:30PM) and the time that the boys reported Mr. Mikes missing (Sunday, about 11:00AM)?

We now know that the 16-year-old retracted he original statement that he saw his dad on Friday when he left on the bike when he later recalled that he had not seen Dad since Thursday after work.

I'm still puzzled about where the younger brother was and what he knows about the altercation in the basement. Presumably, he has an alibi for all those hours, and LE is satisified, at this time, that the younger brother is not involved in whatever happened to Mr. Mikes. I'm having a difficult time believing that he didn't see or hear anything, but LE reports that he is answering questions and cooperating with the investigation.
