GUILTY MI - Paul DeWolf, 25, fatally shot in Ann Arbor frat house, 23 July 2013

"Just got done speaking with Paul DeWolf's parents and younger sister. A very emotional interview. Look for the stories Thursday and Sunday."

I'm looking forward to reading the interviews. But I wonder what the reason is that Paul's brother was not interviewed? He appears to be the only immediate family member not interviewed? :waitasec: Wasn't the brother the one who wrote the "tribute" for the media that began with how Paul was the "a remarkable human being, a brother..."? So he certainly appeared articulate...

Do intelligent men and women really play Russian roulette? Yikes!
That's a joke, right?

You make me laugh (in a good way)! I think having a few drinks and/or taking drugs can alter the generally rational behaviors of even the most intelligent people. I went to ivy-leagues and even there, some students got drunk and smoked pot mainly on Thursdays through Sundays -- mostly to de-stress -- and they'd do wild things. E.g., one guy, a senior at the time, got stoned (quite often) and once even drove his motorcycle off a third storied hallway window and luckily landed bruised but not severely injured on the lawn below.

So yeah, people, even intelligent ones, can do crazy things -- especially when high.

Playing stupid games would not surprise me about almost anyone. Really :)

In a game of Russian roulette, one shoots/attempts to shoot him or herself. Not other people.

Ahem, lol, it was an example. Let's not get all technical about who shoots who in Russian roulette. Regardless, still a risky, life-threatening, stupid game, IMO.

I know! Could a bunch of medical students behave that carelessly - I surely hope not.

I think the poster was suggesting Paul lost the game - but was being facetious.

It just seemed weird to read it in your list stated as a potential reason for Paul's bullet wound because who'd ever think of that reason? You would!

We have to start using more smilies so we don't get too  or think peeps are taking or could take all comments seriously.

Even in person sometimes peeps don't get my jokes - what's wrong with THEM anyway? :blushing:

This is the one and only reason I hate, well not hate, but am filled with fear being a mother of a child who is technically an adult who still has a lot of growing up to do. Talk about Russian roulette (with better odds, I hope).
Humpty Dumpty :fence:; :drumroll:; :please: no :jail:; or too many ; with not enough :countsheep:!!!
:banghead: because :heartluv: much.

I have a theory, albeit based on my very limited knowledge of the case. I think perhaps this was a male lover (or someone who wanted to be) and was either rejected, or the relationship broken off. I think a lone male is the killer. I think he was used to being in that house, so no eyebrows were raised by his being there, he maybe even lived there.

I think it's also possible that it's a jealous boyfriend, if LE can find a girl he was interested in/seeing.

I don't in any way think that his successes had any bearing on his murder. This was PERSONAL.

What say you, Old Steve? Thoughts???

bbm ~ On the other hand, I noticed and I'm going to watch a Lifetime movie tonight about a brilliant girl who is convinced to take college entrance exams for two of her friends. Then, somehow she is framed for murder.

The movie description got me thinking if Paul could have possibly discovered some kind of cheating was taking place or gained knowledge of some other sketchy academic related situation (as touched on here before). Paul didn't hide that he considered himself a God fearing man as stated on his FB page. So, having knowledge of hidden things may have proved difficult for him to ignore. He may have confronted a person (or people) involved before taking further action. If so, this may have put him in a dangerous situation.

He had a girlfriend. Good to know. I still suspect the other in the back of my mind......
as far as a female perp, I need to brush up on my information pertaining to female killers, but it seems to me that they dislike using guns. Aileen Wuornos being the exception, of course. ;)

Off to research that........

Occam's razor (also written as Ockham's razor from William of Ockham, and in Latin lex parsimoniae) is a principle of parsimony, economy, or succinctness used in logic and problem-solving. It states that among competing hypotheses, the hypothesis with the fewest assumptions should be selected.

FYI: I am a firm believer in this principal.

Perhaps a nervous woman holding a small cal. gun that's easy to carry in a purse... she only means to threaten him with the gun, but inexperienced with firearm, the gun goes off...

But, who's to say, what we really need is a motive...

Agree! But, what is most straight forward hypothesis in this case?

I can't think of a single woman (except a Jodi Arias type) who would hold a gun to a mans neck. No nervous woman would do that. If I ever thought of holding a gun to my husband's neck he would put me flat on my behind in a heartbeat. No way!

Oh, I agree about not holding gun to neck... no, instead what I envisioned was a gal simply holding gun from a distance and it goes off an hits him in the neck just by chance...

I thought it was stated that the gun was held to his neck? Did I misunderstand that?

Back to Ockham -
his being very smart, and a high achiever stands out, and that stands out.
Others jealous? Others wanting help with cheating?
