Maybe I'm wrong, but I didn't hear murder charges for the baby, only that they caused miscarriage/stillbirth.

I don't want to listen again, tbh, but will rely on others who know for sure.

I can’t quite figure this one out because in Michigan this can be manslaughter of the infant BUT imo they don’t have a recoverable
Body or. Autopsy to support another major charge like manslaughter?

Methhead(s) had an idea, then formulated a plan. It all made sense to the subhumans here. They actually thought it would work. Terrifying 😨

I want to know how long they planned this.

When did Rebecca and her bio-mom come into contact? Anyone have a timeline of the relationships of people in this case?

They obviously colluded to formulate the plan. I could be wrong but apparently Becca was to disappear and psycho Mom was to magically appear with a newborn.

Infertile Cortney wanted a baby, desperately so. Here was her chance to have one that was also 'nearly' hers biologically. Perfect! Only problem was that she'd have to brutally kill her daughter first---whatever....

i have missed many posts over the past few days.........
How do we know that Cortney was infertile?
Rebecca's sister WAS also Cortney's child, correct?

tia.

Asking because she seems to have produced kind of a lot of babies she didn't seem to raise for someone who apparently wanted another one now.
That's what I have been thinking this entire time. She didn't seem to want Rebecca (at least) when she was a kid but by God she suddenly is ready to become a mom now! Like WTF? MOO.

Two people have been charged in the death of a 22-year-old pregnant Michigan woman Rebecca Park, whose body was found last week in a national park, authorities announced Tuesday.

The suspects are the victim's biological mother, 40-year-old Cortney Bartholomew, and Cortney's husband, 47-year-old Bradly Bartholomew, both of Boon, which is about 12 miles west of Cadillac in Wexford County, Attorney General Dana Nessel said in a press release.

They were arraigned Tuesday in 84th District Court on charges of first-degree murder, felony murder, torture, conspiracy, assault of a pregnant person causing miscarriage or stillbirth, unlawful imprisonment and removal of a dead body, Nessel said...

One old post from 2018 stood out to me from this account. She posted a meme listing the average age of having a first child changing over the decades with the question "how old were you when you became a mother?" and states: 13.

13? Yikes. She is 40 and Becca was 22. We know about the younger teenage son. KP is also her biological daughter (right?) but she is younger than Becca too I think. Where's that child she had when she was 13?

Asking because she seems to have produced kind of a lot of babies she didn't seem to raise for someone who apparently wanted another one now. Honestly so did the poor victim; she already had at least 2 which seems like a similar path.

Also if CB really had a baby at age 13, it doesn't explain why she's (allegedly!) a sick and disturbing torturer and murderer but it probably does explain some of her other psychological struggle. She's probably stuck at 13 emotionally and has been mired in the trauma of that event ever since. Again, not an excuse for being a vile and twisted criminal! But without knowing the details of what happened I can picture a person like this responding in a lot of bad ways over the years.

I just cannot believe how "old" she looks for a 40 year old woman. Looks like a rough road she has travelled.

Even her boyfriend or whatever---looks younger than her and is 7 years older.....

I look forward to a couple years from now when EWU or a similar channel gets the bodycam and interrogation footage and makes a video about it. Will be really interesting and infuriating to see.
If she didn't want the baby, killing the Rebecca would have achieved that. No, this was IMO a careful plan to steal Rebecca's baby. I think they thought this would work.
I bet they didn't even have enough forethought to research Cesarean sections or anything like that. MOO.
Why aren’t they producing a body I wonder?
It's not unheard of for killers to refuse to give up bodies. Usually it's either to continually maintain innocence OR because it's the last tiny bit of power/control they hold.

Give that woman a doll or a pet rock. I wouldn't even want her to have live pets. JMO

I think they came up with enough charges to hold them until trial. If the baby is found they will figure out how he died and then more charges. Sadly there is no DP and only so many life sentences you can do, they're not getting out. IMO

silly question, but if she was going around two months before the incident, saying she had a baby , wouldn't raise flags to Becca and the rest of the close family? As to whose baby she will show around to the world?
Good point. I'd think everyone that wasn't methed out of their heads would ask... "You have a baby? Where'd you get it cuz you weren't pregnant". But, they WERE all methed out of their heads, hence no one even questioning Cortney making that statement.

Could anyone hear what she was trying to say?
She said "but I have a 14 year old son"

🤦‍♀️

as if that means she should be given bond. After being accused of the brutal premeditated murder of that child's half sister and nephew. The audacity of this creature knows no limit.

I'm a bit curious on the charges here. Their theory is: "It is alleged that on November 3, the couple lured Park – Cortney Bartholomew’s biological daughter, who was approximately 38 weeks pregnant at the time – to their Wexford County home. The couple then allegedly tortured Park in an attempt to remove the unborn infant, resulting in the death of both."

I understand not having a separate murder charge for the baby because in Michigan you need to prove that the baby was alive after birth for murder to apply. If they do not have the baby's body, they would not be able to do an autopsy to see if the baby took a breath, etc.

However, in Michigan we do have a statute for manslaughter for the willful killing of an unborn child. MCL 750.322: Wilful killing of unborn quick child—The wilful killing of an unborn quick child by any injury to the mother of such child, which would be murder if it resulted in the death of such mother, shall be deemed manslaughter.

I'm wondering why this charge wasn't also added to their list?

Poor reason and she obviously doesn't see herself as the monster that the rest of us see. Her 14 year old would be a lot better off without her in his life. JMO!

I just made this account.
I just wanted to say that maybe it's because we don't know if they willfully killed the child. They could have meant to keep it alive.

Jumping off your post as I have a question bouncing around my head about the date she was alleged to have been taken.... Where was her body stored all the time between taken (~11/3) and found? I haven't heard anything about the state it was in when found (as in decomp-wise).

Did they have a way to store it to keep it cold enough to stave off decomp? Was she lured away ~11/3, kept/detained somewhere alive, and then closer to the date she was found they killed her? I can't make sense out of the time between missing and found.
