I believe that was planted by the criminal masterminds when they dumped the body there as a means of blackmailing Kim to stay quiet and stop pointing fingers their general direction. JMO, Kimberly is only charged with lying to LE and things of that nature. I think her silence was ensured because CB and BB threatened her telling her we have linked you to this crime, evidence will point to you, not us, you better toe the line girl.

I think they are not charged with murder of the baby because they can't prove (at this point) the baby was murdered after delivery. They are charged with causing a miscarriage/stillbirth.

Perhaps if/when the baby is found, ME can determine if he was born alive. But I don't think they have the evidence of that at this point, only that the baby didn't survive.

This is the part that’s confusing to me. If the baby died prior to delivery, then MI law would consider that manslaughter and they could charge them with that. If the baby died after, that’s a second murder charge. If LE doesn’t have that information, then how do they know that the baby didn’t survive?

I suppose it’s possible they didn’t add the charges for the baby because the ones they have are enough to go on. I’m not a lawyer. But the baby being largely left out by officials, even when it came to updates after the body was found, is weird to me. MHO.

I'm a bit curious on the charges here. Their theory is: "It is alleged that on November 3, the couple lured Park – Cortney Bartholomew’s biological daughter, who was approximately 38 weeks pregnant at the time – to their Wexford County home. The couple then allegedly tortured Park in an attempt to remove the unborn infant, resulting in the death of both."

I understand not having a separate murder charge for the baby because in Michigan you need to prove that the baby was alive after birth for murder to apply. If they do not have the baby's body, they would not be able to do an autopsy to see if the baby took a breath, etc.

However, in Michigan we do have a statute for manslaughter for the willful killing of an unborn child. MCL 750.322: Wilful killing of unborn quick child—The wilful killing of an unborn quick child by any injury to the mother of such child, which would be murder if it resulted in the death of such mother, shall be deemed manslaughter.

I'm wondering why this charge wasn't also added to their list?

My guess is they may add that charge in the future. Right now, they don’t have remains and they don’t know if manslaughter or murder would be more appropriate, and they already have them with multiple charges and no bond. Easy to add those charges later and give law enforcement more time to investigate the baby.

If you read her social media pages, she constantly adores her son but hates her daughters. One according to the sources (was also quoted upthread by someone) she is mad at to have given a child up to social services and both she tells to keep their legs closed.
She wanted a sibling for her son and i guess that is why she murdered her daughter in order to take the baby boy. Also I guess since it was her ex boyfriends child she may have felt jealous. If her daughter would have gone to hospital with her fiance and given birth there, the child would have either been given to the parents or to the state. So she tried to “deliver” it outside of the hospital. Absolutely Vile.

That might be added motive for sure.

But Cortney wrote many posts for a few months about wanting desperately to have a baby. She posted about her fertility drugs she was taking. She had baby things that she had already collected in her home. She even posted a fake claim that she had already given birth to a preemie, who was in the NICU, ready to come home in 2 months.

So it appears as though she was paving the way to be able to explain it if she had a newborn in her clutches 2 months later, right when Becca was due to give birth.

She said she was going to court to fight for custody for another baby granddaughter that was given up to social services so I guess she may have not preferred a boy. But since she obviously favored her son (who lives with her)over her daughters (who were adopted out) and apparently she wanted to give him a sibling desperately, it is possible a baby boy triggered her more into this horrible deed.

I think the baby died because of the shocking, severe, forced birth circumstances. She would have kept a living baby, boy or girl, imo.

Not that any of this makes sense, but I’m curious why they felt the need to attempt to cut the baby out when RP was 38 weeks and likely to deliver soon? Was there a reason it had to happen that night?

I suspsect that with Becca's earlier that evening visit to the hospital for braxton hicks and the discovery that she was already dilated to one centimeter, at her advanced stage of pregnancy, her mother knew delivery would be happening sooner rather than later

This wasn't Becca's first or even second pregnancy. Meaning odds were she would be delivering within the next few days to a week. CB may have felt it is now or never if I am going to do this thing.

Just thinking about the charges in addition to what is said earlier - it’s possible the charges are based off of what was reported/admitted and they are waiting for evidence to support the manslaughter charge
