Lake Co. Sheriff Discusses Discovery of Human Remains as Missing Person Investigation Continues - 9 & 10 News

A man was reported missing more than two years ago in Lake County.

Now investigators found human remains on the property where he was last seen.

This weekend Lake County deputies found human remains at a home in Pleasant Plains Township;
the same home where Ashbrook was living when he was reported missing.
A tip came in last week that led investigators back to that same home.

Investigators are now working to identify the remains, determine a cause of death and figure out why the remains were on this property.

Sheriff's office to determine whether human remains found are those of missing man

Additional link

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has found significant evidence that may be connected to a nearly 3-year-old missing person’s case.

The sheriff’s office said it was this house (Video can be found at link) where they found human remains Saturday, that may belong to Richard Allen Ashbrook.

Sheriff Rich Martin said they received credible intel that led them to the home off Ester Street in Pleasant Prarie Township last week.
After an unsuccessful search, more intel, this time, with specifics as to where the remains were located on the property.

The Michigan State Police Crime Lab is working to identify the remains.

Sheriff: More than one suspect involved in buried remains case

Lake County Sheriff Rich Martin could not confirm whether there were any suspects identified in the case. However, he said there are persons of interest the police are investigating.

"It's our belief that there was more than one person involved in this," he said.

As of Wednesday, no arrests have been made in the case.

Martin added the sheriff's office still has a couple of potential witnesses they will be questioning before submitting a final report to the prosecutor's office.
